And Went to Opera. I LOVE it! Doesn't run too terribly slow on my system (I've got dial-up so slow is par for the course).
Firefox isn't as great as most say.

View Full Version : Well, I retired IE Mr. Initial Man 10-18-2004, 11:40 PM And Went to Opera. I LOVE it! Doesn't run too terribly slow on my system (I've got dial-up so slow is par for the course). Firefox isn't as great as most say. Monkey Bizzle 10-19-2004, 12:16 AM Firefox isn't as great as most say. i agree... the only "great" thing about firefox is that you can do tabbed browsing... westernrider 10-19-2004, 12:31 AM Excuse my ignorance. But, I have always herd people talk about tabbed browsing... and I have never known exactly what it is. Monkey Bizzle 10-19-2004, 12:39 AM Instead of having 3 open windows, you can have 3 tabs inside your ONE open windows... see in my screen shot?? http://blue-starz.net/example.JPG salomeyasobko 10-19-2004, 01:17 AM i also like the fact that mozilla has no pop-ups :) SizzZzlinhair 10-19-2004, 01:35 AM Instead of having 3 open windows, you can have 3 tabs inside your ONE open windows... see in my screen shot?? http://blue-starz.net/example.JPG The tab thing seems cool but it would probably get on my nerves after a while. starlet 10-19-2004, 01:40 AM Ive never understood why people think its so cool, whats the difference...top of the screen or bottom of the screen, i just dont get it. thezeppzone 10-19-2004, 01:41 AM ill stick to i.e. i guess im just so used to it i couldnt switch over to anything else. i have great internet connection and it never runs slow unless a site is actually down, coughmineearlierblahhostsavecough, but we wont get into that lol. ive never even used anything besides i.e. because frankly i mean its nothing special but like i said im so used to it i probably could never use anything else.... kittycat 10-19-2004, 02:17 AM I used to use opera for a while, I didn't like how much valuable screen space the advert took up though. Otherwise it was an all right browser. Firefox is the browser I use 99% of the time now, I love it to death :P I hate using IE to do anything now just because I've gotten so used to the tabs and doing things in FF. The only thing I use it for is email links in outlook and checking people's sites on LEIA who need help and I obviously can't see their problem otherwise :P pb&j 10-19-2004, 02:48 AM Firefox is my choice now. i used to be an IE, but a couple months back slooowwly switched over to FF. i like the fact that is shows webpages for how they are "really" coded. it does not take garbage coding and "guess" at the outcome like IE does. it is more strict. Opera had an ugly advert on it. dont want to pay for the "real" version without adverts. Netscape is just blah... Mozilla was a stepping stone between IE and FF. i keep all of them onhand for testing like kittykat. took some getting used to, but i finally got the hang of thunderbird email. outlook was good, but i am trying to veer away from IE. TB email is great. tabbed browsing... my view was the same as someone previous... doesnt really matter where the window is being called from, either tab or block. still that many "windows" open essentially. Monkey Bizzle 10-19-2004, 03:15 AM Mozilla was a stepping stone between IE and FF. i thought mozilla made/is firefox? the tabbed browsing thing is nice cause i do lots of things at once when I am on the computer. so instead of having 5 internet windows, a few notepad windows and photoshop open, i can have 1 internet window, a few notepad windows, and photoshop... but like i said... that is the only good thing that i like about firefox. but i am still for internet explorer all the way. pb&j 10-19-2004, 05:35 AM i thought mozilla made/is firefox? they are part of the same family, but different. kinda like brothers. hehegirl 10-19-2004, 08:45 PM But I like mozilla better. NO POPUPS RULES weird girl 10-19-2004, 08:55 PM I love Firefox. I think it's a beautiful browser. :D SizzZzlinhair 10-19-2004, 09:13 PM Ive never understood why people think its so cool, whats the difference...top of the screen or bottom of the screen, i just dont get it. That confused me for a while because I have my taskbar on the top :hehe: Things that are different are cool to me. Munchkin 10-20-2004, 12:24 AM I was an IE user, then my IE got a virus and I had to switch to Opera. The ad doesn't really bother me, it's just there :P My IE's fixed now...but I'm still using Opera. I'm not sure why, really, maybe because it's faster and only needs one window open. I'll probably just switch back and forth. VeneficusMalfoy 10-20-2004, 01:43 PM I still use IE. I have opera and firefox both, but I don't like the way either of them take certain things. Like, for example - in some forums, in Firefox, the smilies/bbcode doesn't go where the cursur is (granted, vb doesn't let that happen at all. lol) and I think all form buttons/drop downs look awful in firefox. lol. And of course, I like my IE CSS (scrollbars and such) so my sites always look much better in IE. lol. I do, however, LOVE the plugins that you can install for firefox. And I don't ever use Opera minus making sure forum skins look proper in it. I don't like the ad either. :) Chris 10-20-2004, 02:56 PM I still use IE. I tried FF but because a lot of pages were messed up in it, I decided to stick with IE. I have heard a lot of people say that they like FF because there are no popups, well you can get windows service pack 2 for IE which has a popup blocker in it! :D Chris |
