LONDON, England (AP) -- "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling said Friday that one of her characters will not survive the next book in her series about the young wizard.

Asked on her official Web site whether she planned to kill off any more characters, Rowling replied, "Yes, sorry." But she refused to identify that character.

The sixth book in the series, "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince," is due to be published next year.

Potter himself is safe, at least for now. Rowling has previously said her teenage hero will survive until the seventh and final book in the series, but has refused to say whether he will reach adulthood.

"You have to wait and see whether he survives to be a grown-up," Rowling said in August.

The 39-year-old author keeps the plots of her novels tightly under wraps, teasing fans with morsels of information.

Before the publication of her last installment, "Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix," she said a major character would die. Readers had to wait until the book appeared last year to discover the victim was Harry's mentor, Sirius Black.

I have a feeling it would be one of the Weasleys.... Im thinking more towards Percy or Ron - (Although i'll be completely devastated if it is Ron)
because if you think of it... The Boggart kinda gives you clues... An example ; Lupin... There was that hint when Lupin's boggart changed into an orb... ^^^? why would sum one be afariad of an orb? but that gave us a clue and we later found out that lupin was a werewolf thats why he had the orb (moon) as his boggart....
In OOTP Molly Weasleys boggart keeps on changing into dead family members... who knows?! maybe she might even die! :idea:

It's not necessarily like that. Lupin was afraid of something that is real, but that doesn't mean that all boggarts have to be something that is real, because all fears aren't generally real.
Just my entirely-too-obsessed HP thought.

I do have a feeling that it will be one of the Weasleys. It seems that she likes killing the ones Harry's close to. But I don't think it's going to be Ron. Maybe in the 7th book. Percy doesn't play a major role any more; Ginny got her turn to (nearly) die in the 2nd book; Bill and Charlie aren't in there much; Fred or George...one of them might, though I hope not; the other possibilities are Mr. or Mrs. Weasley...and I'm not sure about them...*sighs*

Hermione...she's kind of Harry's foil. Harry doesn't think through things very well, Hermione's exactly the opposite. So I don't think it'll be her.

i agree, i think it will be one of the weasleys too. although i dont believe it could be Ron. he is too big a character, so many readers would be upset, so nope, it wont be Ron! i am betting it is going to be percy. he has turned so nasty and it wouldnt surprise me if he turned out to be a trator. i also have a really bad feeling that jk may kill Hagrid, hope she doesnt though, he is my favourite.

yea i guess you guys are right... but i think it WOULD make sense for Percy to die because now that he turned against his parents and Dumbledore maybe he is in danger or something...

There is a rumor going around that Ron and or Hermione will join the Dark Side but i think thats just a stupid rumor but that would be an interesting rumor but they both hate the Malfoys too much........... euugh! Why won't the book just come out! :(hurry Jk hurry:(
