oincubusx 10-06-2004, 05:28 AM can someone find me a avatar of kurt cobain or incubus that will fit for LEIA?
whats your opinions on the debates? i had to watch them for school... very interesting!
sisqoluv 10-06-2004, 05:34 AM I've been watching the debates, but by my own personal choice... I think the VP debate was MUCH more interesting than the presidental debate, which is sad to say. Bush and Kerry were too nice to each other, but tonight was straight forward :D
StarryIlove 10-06-2004, 08:57 AM LOL Bush and Kerry were too nice to each other
You could always make your own avatar in paint or psp
oincubusx 10-07-2004, 02:31 AM i cant lick my elbow... can i lick yours? haha j/w.... i mean j.k. of course..

Owlie42 10-07-2004, 08:20 PM well bleh bleh! all the ones i make are tooooo big! BLEH lol i thought that kerry was better tho... bush is a horrable speaker..
Yes. I agree. I didn't see much of the middle, but apparently Bush stood there and said "It's hard work..." four or five times when asked a question about Iraq. When Kerry was answering questions, he looked like his caricatures: some kind of malevolent imp. And, of course, there's the wonderful "the moolahs of I-ran have nucular weapons" rather that "The mullahs of Iran have nuclear weapons." Someone in my science class and I had a good laugh about the "moolahs."
As for the VP debates...I wasn't all that impressed. Cheney looked sort of tense and annoyed, but then, Cheney always looks tense and annoyed. Edwards looked like he'd been painted. He gave a decent performance, but still...
LesPaul59 10-07-2004, 10:09 PM I thought this was funny "I've been residing over the Senate for four years know and this is the first time I've ever seen you,"
My Human teacher said he should of came back with "well it is nice to see you out of your undisclosed location Mr. Vice President"
I want the debate on domestic issues, that really interests me.
I am happy about Bush sneaking in one little line that a lot of people didn't pick up on. "...and our military, which will remain all volunteer , will continue to fight..."
My mom is freaked about the draft.
salomeyasobko 10-08-2004, 01:41 AM My mom is freaked about the draft.i thought you guys were gonna move to switzerland
sisqoluv 10-08-2004, 03:50 AM I thought this was funny "I've been residing over the Senate for four years know and this is the first time I've ever seen you,"
I was watching another TV show covering the debate and they showed the two sitting together! I think there may have been one or two people sitting between the two, but they were at the same table... I couldn't stop laughing.
Y3llow 10-08-2004, 06:37 AM can someone find me a avatar of kurt cobain or incubus that will fit for LEIA?
whats your opinions on the debates? i had to watch them for school... very interesting!
Hehe, I'm not in the US, or anywhere near it, so I'm paying no attention whatsoever to the debates, but other than that, I'll make an avatar for you if you want, I'm pretty good at Photoshop so I'll see what I can whip up for ya :D
Y3llow 10-08-2004, 09:04 AM Hmmm, is there any limitations for av's? Like height, width, and file size? I can't find any anywhere.
Oh and also is there an edit button? I havent been here for a while and i cant find one!!!!!
oincubusx 10-09-2004, 02:10 AM u have to have 500 posts ferst.... then it has to be at MOST 75x75 and at most 3000 BYTES... yep... oooh another debates on tonight!!!
AiJahya 10-09-2004, 02:18 AM I personally thought that Bush did a horrible job in the first debate. Cheney did not too badly in the second debate, but he didn't stop Edwards into the ground. I'd like to be watching the debate tonight, but nooo...they have to watch the history channel...
Does anyone else find Edwards' smile incredibly annoying?
sisqoluv 10-09-2004, 03:26 AM AiJahya, at least he's not scary like Cheney ;)
I'm watching the debate now... They're doing much better. I missed the first twenty mintues or so, but when I turned on the tv, Bush looked mad! Good watchin`... I think this is more interesting because they're being asked more domestic questions.
Lissa 10-09-2004, 03:30 AM They said they're saving most of the Iraq stuff for last.. I think :D A pretty big thing is the tax cuts, of course.. I haven't been paying too much attention, but I'm rooting for Bush :cheer2:
xTrEmEHoTtAy 10-09-2004, 03:51 AM how did u get that cheerleader smiley? I LOVE THAT!
oincubusx 10-09-2004, 05:45 AM i was origanally roooting for kerry... but im sorta leaning toward bush's opinions and stuff... but i just dont like him and cheney. But i guess it dont matter cause im not 18! haha
oincubusx 10-09-2004, 05:51 AM EDIT_ / | _ / | _
lol... well mostly i lean toward bush now because he sayd that he will NOT use the draft... and he will only use volunteers... And kerry was all wisshy wasshyy about it... But bush lies in the debates a lot so yea..... im gona be 18 when bush or kerry is president so thats important!
Y3llow 10-09-2004, 06:52 AM so oincubusx, do you want me to make you an av? tell me what ya want and I promise you'll like it ;)
sebluver 10-09-2004, 02:03 PM I personally thought that Bush did a horrible job in the first debate...
That's what I thought too. He didn't do too well in the second one either. I don't care who you root for, he looks so nervous when he's debating! And he'll tend to speak out of turn just to counter a point. Like in the first debate, when he wanted that 30-second rebuttal that he really wasn't supposed to have? And in the second, I don't know if it was out of turn but it sort of sounded like it. He just jumped up and started speaking the second Kerry stopped.
sisqoluv 10-09-2004, 04:19 PM They said they're saving most of the Iraq stuff for last.. I think :D A pretty big thing is the tax cuts, of course.. I haven't been paying too much attention, but I'm rooting for Bush :cheer2:
Most of what they talked about during the first debate was Iraq... Why are you rooting for Bush and the tax cuts together?
Anyway, we all knew long ago that Bush was a terrible public speaker. He didn't have a guy holding cue cards or a speech made ahead of time. Everytime Bush talks freely, it's terrible. He should just be glad they prepared him better this time.
AiJahya 10-09-2004, 07:10 PM Bush, frankly, is a terrible speaker. I like some of his ideas, but I must admit he really is a horrible speaker. Terrible at phrasing things. I can't really stand Kerry (I don't hate him, though), and even though he changes his mind every five seconds, Kerry is a much better speaker. Much better at pandering to people's emotions.
I finally got around to watching part of the debate last night, and I thought Bush did a heck of a lot better than he had done in the previous debate.
AiJahya, at least he's not scary like Cheney ;)
Cheney is a bit dry... don't care too much for his gruffness...he's not a likeable a guy. Edwards just seems so fake to me. lol
oincubusx 10-10-2004, 07:10 PM during the demestic debate (sp) bush interupted the guy and said oh i HAVE to respond to this.. and blah blah blah! but uhh... yea
LesPaul59 10-10-2004, 07:36 PM Concentration on Domestic issues is the last debate, later this week.
oincubusx 10-10-2004, 07:42 PM i thought that the domestic one was the last one...where the ppl asked all the questionS?
LesPaul59 10-10-2004, 10:29 PM The first debate is September 30 at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. It will be moderated by PBS's Jim Lehrer. ABC's Charles Gibson will moderate the second, and CBS's Bob Schieffer will moderate the third.
Under the agreement, the first debate will focus on foreign policy and homeland security, while the final one will deal with economic and domestic policy.
The second debate is to be held as a town hall meeting, with questions posed by an equal number of "soft" supporters of each candidate chosen by the Gallup Organization

I REALLY didn't expect that! I was thinking, "Oh no he didn't!" He was getting mad quite often. I missed the first few mintues of the debate, but when I turned on the TV he was in the middle of an attitude.
oincubusx 10-10-2004, 11:25 PM now i get it
starlet 10-11-2004, 12:39 AM I've not seen them, im tempted to download them but they are 700+mgs each, im not sure i'm that bothered lol
Did you all hear about the thing with Bush, theres a pic of him with a 'lump' under his jacket and people are saying it was an earpiece so he could be fed answers! Think its a bit far fetched myself but ya never know. I'll see if i can find a link....
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/10/bush.rumor.ap/index.html
sisqoluv 10-11-2004, 01:44 AM I JUST read about that on the AOL news thing... I know Bush is such a bad speaker that he would need help, but is he that smart?
oincubusx 10-11-2004, 03:07 AM i dont think he is that smart,... lol but that pic is pretty convincing... *rolls eyes*
lol
Owlie42 10-11-2004, 08:38 PM I thought this was funny "I've been residing over the Senate for four years know and this is the first time I've ever seen you,"
..
I am happy about Bush sneaking in one little line that a lot of people didn't pick up on. "...and our military, which will remain all volunteer , will continue to fight..."
It'd be political suicide for him to have said anything else. No one is going to touch the issue of a draft.
My favorite part was the "This is the first time I've seen you"...and then MSNBC or something came out with the story that they had been at some sort of 'official breakfast' together and Cheney had mentioned Edwards by name when addressing it.
The trouble with Edwards was that he wasn't nearly aggressive enough. Neither was his running mate. I found several instances where, if I had the opportunity, I could have taken Bush apart...
Bush IS a terrible speaker. He's not great when he has notecards, and speaking extemporaneously...he's even worse. "The military has to be more facile" and "hydrogen-generated cars" (Yes, children, FUSION has run wild!)
sisqoluv 10-11-2004, 11:03 PM My biggest issue with the first debate, like I said (wait, I think I said that), is that they were too nice to each other. Kerry had a ton of chances to really tear into Bush but avoided it.
oincubusx 10-14-2004, 01:04 AM i wish theyd get into a big brawl... lol thatd be great
sisqoluv 10-14-2004, 01:49 AM There's another one today. Oincubusx, the chances are still high ;)
salomeyasobko 10-14-2004, 04:26 AM i can't believe bush cut the host dude off on the second one! haahha that was great, i was extremely shocked.. i think my jaw literally dropped.. but then i started laughing
i think kerry did very well in the debates. he has proven himself to me :)
sisqoluv 10-14-2004, 05:47 AM Yeah, I couldn't believe that... He was giving attitude in other parts of the debate, too...
oincubusx 10-15-2004, 02:24 AM yea i saw all of them.. school made me! BLEH! yea that was funny... BUT THEY DIDNT FIGHT!!! AAGh lol i had to watch our govenor one too!!!! haha the lady looks crazy running for govenor! yea well i hope bush doesnt get
re-elected AND i saw farenhite (sp) 9/11 yesterday... it was crazy!!!! i recommend it HIGHLY! my mom cried... i donno why.... hmmMM
AiJahya 10-15-2004, 03:16 AM Every time they shook hands they were playing mercy. ;)
sisqoluv 10-15-2004, 05:00 AM  Everytime they shake hands I make up the dialouge. They look like they're trying too hard to be friendly with each other, so I can only wonder what's really said under those smiles...
Owlie42 10-15-2004, 08:19 PM  Everytime they shake hands I make up the dialouge. They look like they're trying too hard to be friendly with each other, so I can only wonder what's really said under those smiles...
Perhaps something like one of Cheney's infamous quotes...:D
Note: If you have no idea what I'm referring to, don't look it up. And if you do, don't post it.
oincubusx 10-16-2004, 03:30 AM I KNOW WHAT HE DID... took me awhile to remember.. but that was crap.. how he said that but when kerrys wife was rude to the press it was worse.. crazy!! yea... cheney scares me... and on the last debate it was funny hearing kerry say that about cheynes daughter i know its true and all but he paused before he said it... it was funy
sisqoluv 10-16-2004, 05:30 PM I remember what he said, but that's only because I watch Real Time, which is a politics/debate show with comedy, and it was meantioned last night (I couldn't remember what it was until I watched that show last night). First of all, the press is always rude to people, and those they're rude to get sick of it. Mrs. Kerry could have been A LOT ruder, but she wasn't even that bad; yet people would have stopped time just to whine about it....
Now Cheney's getting mad about his daughter being placed into politics, but isn't he the one that brought her up (I could be wrong, but I could have sworn he did)? And since her situation directly relates to one of the policies the Bush admin spent so much time focusing on, what's his problem? I know it sucks to have your family put into politics (it's a yicky job), but that comes with the job. He keeps saying he's proud of his daughter, yet he expresses his love by trying to hide her.

Oh, yes. It's perfectly okay for Cheney to swear at people, but it's not OK for Kerry's wife to say something that wasn't nearly as bad to a reporter.
The issue about his daughter was first (if I remember correctly) brought up by Edwards during the VP debates. I think he's trying to hide her because of the awkward position it puts him in. She's bad for the vote coming from the right wing of the Republican party. That's the other thing: you can't really tell what his stance is on the whole issue; his job is not to disagree with the president.
salomeyasobko 10-18-2004, 06:50 AM I remember what he said, but that's only because I watch Real Time
i LOVE real time [with bill maher]!!! it's so hilarious! i really liked when david cross, the comedian dude, was a guest like 2 episodes [weeks] ago.. he was very intelligent! just to jog your memory [if you saw that episode], he was bald-ish.. except for on the sides.. and he had thick-rimmed glasses. anyway, yes that show is great!
ooh, another random comment! but i'll leave out the VB tags this time for the sake of being redundant ;) i'm guessing Lissa's republican, right? she said she was pro-bush. well, it's kind of odd that she's republican but this site has a lot of democratic people.. probably more than the republican people. and then lifelesspeople has a democratic admin person, i believe, [they posted in a political deabete thread once] but that site attracts mostly republican people! [again, based on the polls and such].
heehee isn't that interesting? i'm sure there is no direct correlation between the political views of the admin and the political views of the people who visit the forums.. but i think that is kind of funny.
anyway, this isn't relevant to anything bc LEIA isn't a political board.. and LLP isn't either.. although it [i]does have one or two political debate forums on it.. but.. yes. interesting, eh?
sisqoluv 10-18-2004, 11:09 PM Oh, yes. It's perfectly okay for Cheney to swear at people, but it's not OK for Kerry's wife to say something that wasn't nearly as bad to a reporter.

Besides, reporters should be used to it. If a reporter gets cussed out or even hit, most people aren't surprised.
His daughter's position was actually known before the debates. I mean, isn't Cheney the one who came out and announced it?

Yes, that show is the greatest! Have you ever watched Bill's other show (Politically Incorrect) before it was cancelled? I only watched it a few time because it came on during LATE hours on the weekdays, but it was cool. I think the reasons for ABC firing him were just plain stupid. :( But yeah, I watched that episode. :) I love debating, even if it's in my head towards people on tv *feels like a geek*
AiJahya 10-19-2004, 01:21 AM ^ I *think* he announced it a few years ago, the media jumped on it, and now it's old news. But, Cheney supports Gay marriage (can't remember where he said this...), and supports his daughter. Kerry and Edwards seem to be showing it like "Oh, wow, look, the VP has a gay daughter and his administration can't support her! Neither can he! Inconsistency!"
I frankly don't see why they're making such a big deal out of it... *shrug*
sisqoluv 10-19-2004, 01:28 AM The Bush admin spent a ton of time taking the public's eyes off of real issues by making a big fuss over gays wanting rights. Bush feels very strongly about it, as well as his admin; that's why it's a big deal. One thing the public likes is when it [something a politician was against] comes back at them. It changes what the politician can now say about the subject.
AiJahya 10-19-2004, 01:39 AM Yeeees...he did "make a big deal of it", or at least talked about it for a week until the media went back to the war. :P But right now it's a non-issue, so I don't see why the democrats are even mentioning it. I'd spend that time giving their plan for the future, or attacking Bush.

i love debating too! don't worry, i debate with people on TV all the time ;) and out loud, too! so i'm even worse

The Democrats would like to be seen as "the party of tolerance," which is why they're bringing this up.

Oh, I debate out loud with the radio and television too. And I get abusive too. Especially if someone happens to have flipped the channel to FOX. *shudders*

Yep, but Kerry isn't for gay marriage, but he is for unions. However, Kerry doesn't bring God into that matter.
The only time I watch FOX is when I'm watching a cartoon (The Simpsons, King of the Hill, etc) or the Drew Carey show. FOX news? Nope! Unless I'm watching one of my other shows and breaking news interputs it, I avoid FOX news at all costs. Despite recent events, I'd rather watch CBS news over FOX, lol.

Exactly the way I am. I've always hated FOX news, but I think even less of it now, after seeing Outfoxed. That was such a scary documentary, gives me the creeps.
hehegirl 10-19-2004, 09:44 PM debate is happening at my school too. Now you don't have the popular girls and the wannabees instead you have the Kerry and Bush cliques.
And of course the crazzy about FOX news kids (just kidding).

aren't the "crazy about FOX news" kids just the people in the bush cliques? HAA jk :buckt:
fox news disgusts me :p
AiJahya 10-21-2004, 11:23 PM *prepares to once again get kicked in the teeth by the libs here...*
I prefer FOX news to ABC, NBC, CNN, CNNFN, CNBC, MSNBC, etc, etc. I don't really see them as conservative, but I will give them the fact that they're not nearly as liberal as the rest of the crowd.
Owlie42 10-21-2004, 11:42 PM I pledge my life and sacred honor on the fact that I will never watch FOX news. I will never use it as a source of news. This was the channel that reported vast numbers of body bags after hurricane Charlie.
oincubusx 10-22-2004, 05:43 AM hmm i dont really watch the news... only local! eh! buts its Q13 FOX!!! lol so i guess i watch fox... lol our school sent out these flyer things for us to vote for who we think should win the election at
ChannelOne.com
eh it was weird i think they have the results now... hmm i should check! but yea... you had to have a code and stuff so only ppl could vote once and stuff
EDIT:
WOW! aloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of kids voted for BUSH!!! BUSH!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh stupid kids! kerry only one
CALIFORNIA, MAINE, NY, DC, MD, MA, RI, CT... thats it!
the score ended up
393 -BUSH
145 -KERRY
UNBELIEVABLE! ... eh.. i bet not that many kids voted..
salomeyasobko 10-22-2004, 05:55 AM i ssseeeerrrioussslllyyy doubt that is accurate at all.
sisqoluv 10-22-2004, 11:07 PM *smiles because AP Statistics has made me see the world differently now* With that in mind, those results are basically pointless. There's a ton of undercoverage there. They only selected a few states, and VERY few people voted. If you look at a poll with more people involved, it would look much different. ;) This poll just shows 393 confused kids,
Owlie42 10-26-2004, 03:16 AM That's true. They seldom list the particular qualities of the population segment they're polling. And a small sample really doesn't help things, does it? *has just finished a large enviro. science paper involving population sampling*
oincubusx 10-26-2004, 04:17 AM yea well bleh bleh bleH! make me seem stupid! lol jk..
anyways yea
