I want to create a Xanga that looks professional. Like a personal website that is primarily a blog but also includes favourite links, links to videos or music that I can host (i have the hosting covered), and a calendar of events, and a multimedia gallery with photos.

I looked at most of the Skins in the Xanga Skins Directory, but the few I found that might have worked with a little bit of customization didn't appear to look the same when entering the comment page. It reverted to non-skin when I go to the comment page. I am willing to pay for Xanga premium.

My question is, can this be done with CSS code placed in the custom header box? Or should I just scrap it and create a personal website w/blog that is completely independent from Xanga? Thanks.

You can do a lot with CSS/some java on your Xanga without premium. You can add any links you want, there are javascript calenders (I could never get them to work for me, so ask someone smart >.<) You can try blogring.net for lots of premade layouts with places to add links.. a few might even have the calender. If the music is hosted as well as the videos then you can add a link to them, no problem I'm sure. You just need to learn how to make DIV layers, you can add as many as you want and they'll let you put your text anywhere you want meaning you can have it all orginized. You can make a layout by just adding the basic color changes to your div layers and things.. but if you've got something like PS or PSP you can do more. Again, try going to blogring.net and searching through there script index and also creatblog.com, they have calender scripts, music, vidoes, divs, images, module changes and anything you basically need to custom your xanga. But, in the end, Xanga still limits your use of scripts and things even if you are paying, so if you want to be free to do whatever you with I'd just by a website. If you do and you have a blog that you want people to comment on and things I think you need one that will allow PHP. And things of that sort..

try creating custom modules?? that might work..um...createblog.com has stuff about creating those. - using them, you could then put in links that you like and other things such as your calendar of events. (go to xanga scripts)
