I'm not, but I don't really enjoy meat that much. I'll have chicken once in a while, but other than that I mostly eat other stuff. (Vegetables, fruits, starch, junk food... :p)

nevermind... i saw lespauls post after i made this one...

so a vegetarian doesn't eat meat and a vegan won't eat anything animal related?

LesPaul59
09-19-2004, 07:52 PM
Some vegetarians only don't eat actual meat, but still eat like cheese and milk and eggs and some fish I believe. Vegans don't go near anything that even came out of an animal.

Err nevermind now you edited :P Didn't there used to be a delete post option somewhere? :P

I'm a vegetarian, and a wannabe vegan (except I'd be the world's most hypocritical vegan, because I own 3 pair leather shoes and a leather belt).

A vegetarian diet is alot healthier than a meat diet. Almost every fattening thing that you eat involves meat or animal products in some way. Ice cream? Steak? Pizza? Butter? Yes, yes, yes and yes. I'm trying to think of what a good aspect of eating a meat diet is, but all I can come up with is protein. And, if you eat correctly, a vegetarian gets as much or more protein than someone who eats meat.

I'm a new recruit, but I'm definately staying this way. Especially after I read a pamphlet about trying vegetarianism/veganism, and some of the pictures in there would be enough to put you off meat, too.

If I were to be a vegetarian I probably wouldn't get enough protein :P Which is basically the only reason I eat any meat, though I don't eat a whole lot. Except when it comes to chicken, I couldn't live without my chicken :P

Did you see the ones of people with ungloved hands handling raw meat? Did you see vats of ground beef just lying around to be cut up? Did you see a chicken being debeaked? Did you see pigs and chickens crawling all over each other because they don't have enough room? Those are the pictures I'm talking about. If you don't care about the animals, you've got to at least think about how germy your meat must get if it's being handled, raw, by people whose hands aren't even covered.

Yeah but that's not everywhere though. And I've seen my grandma wring an actual live chicken's neck too :P So if you see it live it would have some impact but no. Oh yeah I've seen pigs being killed too. I'm so like inured to these things. I know that these certain farm places are like doing these things but like i said earlier it's not EVERYWHERE. I dunno it's more of a way of life now that it's hard just to get off it lol

oh yeah i read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair just to add lol

I'm working to be a vegetarian because animals are my life, but I am very ashamed to admit that I am a carnivore. :grouch:
I'm trying to cut down the meat in my diet and eventually eliminate it altogether, but it will probably take me a couple of years. :P

I refuse to eat hamburgers... They gross me out, but STEAK. YUM. I eat chicken all the time, fish is good too... But ever since the whole mad cow thing, I've just not been able to eat any beef other than steak... So spaghetti, I eat with chicken. :) It tastes really good that way though!! :D

i eat meat..i really wish i could be a vegetarian. I feel soo guity eating meat sometimes, cuz i really love animals and its really sad what they have to go thru. I dont think i could do it for many reasons: 1) my family are big meat eaters 2) i like it myself so i dont think i could give it up completly. 3) i think if i was a vegetarian i wouldn't get all my protiene cuz i dont no that much stuff that i could eat that doesnt invovle meat, that and the fact that i am a little picky
but i have cut down on the amount of meat i do eat, its just so sad how much animals have to suffer so that ppl can eat them. I think people just eat meat way too much and the servings are more than a person needs to have enough protien.

I eat meats now, but up until I was almost 13 I was raised vegan. I didn't own any leather shoes or belts then, and I only have fake ones now. But I love eating meat now and eat it often. I actually feel better now then I did when I was a vegan.

I have no idea. I just heard vegetarians eat nuts and pulses :)
Quorn is a meat substitute. I thought it was worldwide but I guess it could be an English thing.

im not a veggie, id like to be but chicken and turkeys just so nice! i could live with out it and quorn is nice, i use the mince to make spagettie Bol is very nice and the quorn sausages are too, and the chicken i use that to make curries, yum, i'm thinking about becoming veggie, its healthier too and i feel tite on the animal that i'm eating :(, but quorn costs quite alot where we get it from and i think my mum an dad would prefere to buy th meat. oh an my friend just turned veggie and the foods nice :D

"Tofu subsitute for the tofu-intolerant."

I cannot live without red meat. I don't get it very often, because most of the meat at my house tends to be pork, turkey or chicken, but...I LOVE steak. (But bison is better :D ) I eat tofu, but only in combination with turkey and chicken broth in soups!

I'm an omnivore, but tried vegetarianism for a while. Missnaming types of vegetarianism sorta bugs me, so here's the real definitions (The names of vegetariansim are sort of like urban legends. I do this practically every time someone says the word "vegetarian")

Vegan-Doesn't eat or use ANY animal products whatsoever. No leather or milk, for example.

Vegetarian-Doesn't eat ANY animal products whatsoever. No milk, cheese, eggs, etc. (Here's where everyone goes, Huh?)

Lacto-Vegetarian-Doesn't eat ANY animal products whatsoever, except for
stuff made of milk.

Ovo-Vegetarian-Doesn't eat ANY animal products whatsoever, except for stuff made with eggs.

Pesco-Vegetarian-Doesn't eat ANY animal products whatsoever, except for fish.

So, add them all up, and I used to be a Lacto-Ovo-Pesco-Vegetarian. :D

I think it would be so hard to be a vegan. You really have to eat fruit, vegetables, soya and tofu products.

I would hate that. I do love my meat :P

lol I have this one friend who's like in 9th grade and is a "vegan" (she wore some leather shoes that day too/ real leather mind you and her purse is a coach purse too rofl  ) besides that I think when you become older or unless you were raised with a vegan diet then you can use it and do it. But some people just don't know or aren't informed then after so little things they eat and not enough of the right nutrition can end them up in the hospital for fainting during school :P It has happened before in my school anyways. I'm not saying you can't start at younger age though if you don't know what you're doing would you seriously take a risk with your health? (also im not saying everyone who is young and wants to be a vegan doesn't know what they're doing either)

Vegitarian Vs. Vegan = Vegitarian eats some dairy-n-meats, while Vegan's do not.

I do not eat anything with a face on it. No dairy, no processed foods (sugar & salt & nothing white-n-powdery), No Canned Food's, no meat.

Some or most Vegan's are that way, because they are into protecting the animals. Why is this, well....... I've not watched any video's in regards to this, but I know that Animal's are given drugs, in order to produce more meat & fat, With Steroid's & other drugs. Why do you think that young girls @ the age of 10 or younger are starting to develope? Whatever ya put into your body, show's up in your health, & your physical developement. You've heard the saying, you are what ya eat?

There is a little bit of formaldehyde in milk, to give it a longer shelf life. And therefore the people who promote it, can keep it on the shelves longer. You may think that this is no big deal, but have you wondered why so many of your families dieseases are being passed down to you? It's not what is in the gene's per say....... but it's what you've been brought up eating that offects ya later.

All drug's have a side effect & sometimes ya do not notice it until many years down the road.

Do ya ever wonder why people have allergies to certain food's? I didn't know that I was allergic to dairy, until I stopped doing it for a few months & then I tried going back to it. My skin would have a reaction.

I'm a vegan, because it is healthier to eat live enzymes rather then dead one's. Why put dead things in your body, when it is alive?

Well.......I just thought that I'd give you a little bit more knowledge then ya already have. Not that anyone here will agree with this, but I do hope that someday all this will make sence & I hope that you will think back on this later in your life & what I said.

I just thought that While I put in my vote for being a Vegan, that I would tell you about Vegan's. We do not take supplements, for we get our vitamin's through our Live enzymes (food).

I'm not here to force my opinion on anyone here. I'm mainly here to learn more about HTML & all things related to Websites, etc.......

I'm not a vegetarian or vegan. I generally don't like people who are, either. It sounds really bad, I know, but most vegans and vegetarians I know are just so snotty about it and are like "you eat meat?!" with the implied "you heartless ignorent fool!" at the end. And they have to hand out those little PETA pamphlets with the gross pictures of butchered animals and little articles titled "a chicken called Hope"
I wouldn't mind it if vegan/vegetarians would just stop acting like high and mighty martyrs. I mean, humans are meant to eat meat. We have the teeth for it.
