I used all the correct coding for this, and renamed my files "nav.txt" and "index2.shtml", but it still won't work when I try to open it in Internet Explorer... I like to get the feel of my site before puttin it up on the net but when I type in C:\....index2.shtml, it just opens a new notepad window. Anyone know a way to avoid this and open in IE before putting on the net? Thx

SSI requires special configuration of the server.

so unless you want to install a web server with SSI support, you won't be able to test it before putting it online.

I use this (http://softnik.com/products/ssiview/) little program, its not great but it does the job.
