hello. I feel completely stupid asking this. I just switched over from cute ftp to smart ftp and am perplexed. How do I upload my files? I looked at the tutorials, but I still can't understand. Could someone give me a run through of the process? Thanks in advance. If no one can, could you reccommend some free ftp programs I can use? No trials please. Thank you.
i dont remember if i changed my personal settings alot, but here is how mine works...
open smartftp.
in the address bar, it shows my sitename.
YourSiteName.com/
in the login bar, it shows my ID name, password, port 21, and uncheckmark for anonymous.
click on the connect icon (or FTP > CONNECT or Control B).
you should now see at least two windows. one for local browser (your computer) and one for the online area (that you just connected to).
find the folders in each window you want to transfer files between.
find and highlight the files you want to transfer.
drag them into the area you want them to go into.
if you are overwritting a file (transferring a file with the same name) it will promp to see if you really want to do such a thing or not.

Do you use freewebs for it? (like in your WWW button)
if so read this:
How do I upload files to my web site?
Our FileManager has made uploading simple. You can even upload an entire site in one zip file and unzip it online into your folder! You can also sign up for FTP access upon logging in.
i found that in their "FAQ". If you did signed up for the FTP, wich ftp adress did you filled in then?
