I managed to find some codes online and set up my Recent Entries (the normal page) view exactly the way I want it. Then I realized, after clicking on my Friends page, that SOME of the codes didn't apply. Mainly the borders/tables ones. Anyone know how to fix this?

that's because you need to put some of the codes under the FRIENDS_VIEW override. check out lj user "howto" for info on the overrides, it's an indispensible help with anything and everything livejournal. =)
