slider 04-06-2003, 01:10 AM i use fp2000 to upload to my web sites, i want to start a blog on my site also, is there a way to do it in fp or do i hav to use another ftp profram? by the way, is it even safe to use a ftp and fp on the same site? thanks for any help!
zangerbanger 04-06-2003, 01:22 AM For blogging, I highly recommend Greymatter (http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft). It's a software that runs on cgi and since you have ftp, it shouldn't be a problem.
MaGiCSuN 04-06-2003, 07:23 AM www.blogger.com it's easy, good and does not require CGI or any other stuff that is difficult :) it allows you to FTP it to your own page!

slider 04-07-2003, 02:01 AM grrrrrr i can't beleive i'm having this many probs with this! i tried both programs and still had no luck, i did get blogger to say it uploaded my files but all i have is a blank page. im now at 11 hours an counting on this. any more ideas please? thanks
zangerbanger 04-07-2003, 02:44 AM What seems to be the problem? In fact I think these are the most commonly used blog softwares available. If you look for other blog softwares, they don't give you as much "customization".
slider 04-07-2003, 02:50 AM ok, i set everything up in blogger and did a test blog, when finished it said it uploaded completely, i went to the site to my blogger.html and all i have is a blank page.. i'm not sure what i am doing wrong, geeez its probably something right infront of my eyes and i am blind to it, i have no probs editing and figuring out almost anything if i spend enough time on it, but this one just mystifies me. :) if there is any other info u need just let me know and i will try to give it to you, thanks again very much!
angelivion 04-07-2003, 08:31 AM actually, you wont be able to read your latest post that quick. you have to allow a few minutes (it depends) for you to be able to view your post.
MaGiCSuN 04-07-2003, 04:42 PM 1. you should have a <blogger> code in your template, or the <$message$> (something like it can't remember the exact code) SHOULD be in the template
2. Did you add your WHOLE page from <html> to </html> in the "template" ? because some people only add the blog codes, but you have to add your whole page.
3. Is the FTP really good? after publishing click on "status" and then "ftp log" and see if it says at the end "succesfully uploaded" or "goodbye" or something like that
4. did you posted a message? after typing a message in the 'post' field you click "post and publishing"
Hope it works, otherwise post the url so that we could take a look :) also type in your password again at blogger.com because it could be that your caps lock was on, i have that sometimes with MSN. All small things that you don't see that fast haha i know i know it took me actually quite a time to figure that out. Good luck !!

slider 04-08-2003, 11:16 AM are you saying i need to upload a blank page and add the html code from my own program and then direct the blog to load to that page?
MaGiCSuN 04-08-2003, 03:35 PM No, you code your html page. For example in notepad. Then you open up an IE window and log in into blogger.com
then click "template" and copy the coding from your notepad file INTO that window under "template". Then you add the <blogger> codes INTO the cell, div, table or whatever you use on the right place in your coding and Then click the button below the area and hit "publish" after publishing post a message and hit "post and publish" and then open up your page and refresh it if needed (the blog page, not the blogger.com account page!) to see the message.
You just don't have to upload your blogger.html or blog.html or whatever you named it page, you make the page via blogger.com. So basically in normally you make your pages with notepad or any other editor you use and you upload it. Now you use for your blog blogger.com instead of notepad or etc to make your blog.
So the WHOLE page goes into that template field, from <HTML> to </HTML>
