I have an image that I used a soft-edged eraser (PSP) to fade...and the background is white. Is there any way I can make the background black and still make the fade look right?
Thanks.

Yes there is! Take the rounded brush, put the size on a maxium level, bring down the hardness, density has to be High Opacity around 60 or a bit higher.
and just go around the edges or whatever. ^_^ I hope that solves your problem.

You used an eraser? Which makes the areas transparent? And it was a fuzzy brush? So your image has semi-transparent pixels? .gif, .jpeg, .bmp, and .jpeg don't support those as far as I'm concerned... Reply with the purpose of the image, I might help....
