Hey.. I came up with this nifty idea for a karoke site (for an episode of Buffy which was a musical) that I could be the first to make a karoke site (for Buffy at least).

The thing is.. I need something like a plugboard that would upload .wavs or something so people can upload their singing or something like that. Basically ... I need a way for people to instantly put their song up. Can somebody please help me? I don't care if it's not in html but nothing like php, cgi, etc because my hosting doesn't support that. Thank-you.

a simple way would be this:

sign up at www.tagboard.com
get a tagboard there and instead of people filling in the url of their website they fill in the url to their song. So when you click the name the song starts to download automatically :)

Love,
Mirna

Do you know what that link would look like?

eg: (Documents:http://............) something like that? I wanna make it so all they have to do is put the name that they saved it as instead of the whole link as that'll be pretty confusing. So in the box where they type the link it'll already say most of the link just not the part that they saved it as ... they fill in that part.

they could put the song link in the URL box, and then their name, so all people have to do is click their names to download the song? Is that what you mean? So the URL doesn't show up?

No I mean for an example of a link like that would look something like C:\Documents and Settings\Shawn\My Documents\blahblah

But wouldn't Shawn already be taken by somebody else. How can a computer tell WHICH one from which?

You need to be careful with this sort of site - copyright wise. It would be a shame if copyright agencies closed down your site because it was illegal - you ought to put some sort of disclaimer on the site for your users. ;)

Yeah, I know. I was going to ... if only I could actually GET the site running. Now if somebody could kindly answer my question that would be awesome.

you can't link to your harddrive. The file has to be uploaded to a host and from there people can put it the whole url to it as their adress something like this:

http://www.domain.com/mp3/mymusic.mp3

please be patient, if someone knows the answer they will answer. Bumping (in the beginning of the thread) will not help as you can see. :)
