Now people I need you to be completely honest here, when you type these precarious letters "L O L" do you actually Laugh Out Loud? :P :lol:

sometimes... most of the time thought it is just me trying to finish off a sentance. Or maybe when I do not know what to say.

When I type lol, usually Im just grinning in amusement, not really laughing out loud. :p

sometimes, although when I'm really laughing, I'll usually use haha or hahaha depending on how funny something is, although use of the repeating "ha" is not necessarily an indication of laughter. </disclaimer> :P

but usually it's just something to use when I don't know what else to say (so in other words, I use it a lot :P as much as I ramble a lot of the time, there are plenty of times when I don't know what to say) :P

I tried creating another new thread, and instead of taking me to the page where you create the options, it went to the forum index. the second time I accidentally entered "43" options, because instead of typing over the 4 it for some reason added the 3, so I hit escape then tried doing it again, and it went back to the chat forum, and the thread had already posted but without the poll, so I had to redo it again :P

i rarely type "lol", i usually write "hahaha" which usually indicates me smiling in real life.. or "HAHA" if it's very funny.. but i'm not necessarily laughing out loud.. maybe giving a hearty chuckle :lol: and lastly "ahahahahahaah"/"AHAHAHAHAAHA" or something of the sort if it's really amusing, at which point i'm usually laughing out loud.. or at least chuckling.. :P

but i vary the different online-laughs.. so i can write "hahaha" and be laughing [that sounds odd.. be laughing.. hmm] out loud..

LOL for me is pretty much what WR said... i use it at the end of sentences when i want to let people know that i am not having an attitude since it is hard to tell people's mood when you are reading... when i am laughing i use haha and if it is REALLY funny then i use ROTFL but all of those are boring so... we need to think up new laughing acronyms...

I never use 'LOL' unless I'm being silly with one of my friends, in which we'll talk entirely in internet acronyms. It's really quite amusing for the first few minutes.

Whenever I am laughing out loud I type variations of "Haha" or "Hehe" or "Heheh", and when I don't know what to say I type "Hmm..." :P

usually i say lol for dumb comments someone makes, when im laughing because of something funny its usually the other one...that u know..has a word i cant say here... :P

It's like when I say, "Woo!" I'm not physically jumping up in my chair and doing a cheer. And when a friend gives me a link to something funny or says something funny that I chuckle, I'll write "haha." But it's mostly just filler space.

I overuse 'lol' I'd say about 5% of the time i'm actually laughing out loud...95% of the time i'm just using it as a full stop lol

i usually use it if it makes me smile or if i don't want to hurt the feelings of someone who just told a horrible joke or if i have nothing else to say and am hoping that person will get the picture soon

I don't type many sentences on the computer without typing "lol". But I'm never laughing with I type it. Usually I'm just amused, or using it to end my sentence, or if what I typed looks to serious I add it in to make it less serious.

lol is another way of just making people that are blabbing to you over i-m think you are listening to them....:rofl:

I use 'LOL' in about 55% of my posts. I thought about if I really use it and the answer is sometimes. I usually do it when I'm amused or give a small chuckle. When I laugh really hard I do the ROFL smilie or 'HAHAHAHAHA" but the main one I use is 'MUAHAHAHA' it's an evil laugh I do when I do something naughty, crazy or just when I'm bored. I also tend to use 'LOL' at the end of my posts like this... LOL, gotta go!

Arrg, I hate when people overuse it though. I have a friend who puts it at the begininng or end of every sentence and it drives me insane!

I voted "sometimes" because...well, for obvious reasons (as in, I laugh sometimes when I'm saying lol).

I had a friend like that, too - well, not that extreme. :rolleyes: I started counting the number of times he used lol in every conversation, and he stopped using it. :buckt: I can get pretty annoying...but it's all in fun!

I hate it when that is the only thing people say... they make it clear that they do not want to talk to you.

when I type 'lol' it's used as just a filler, but when I type 'LOL' I am probably 'smiling in amusement.' :D I don't usually laugh at my computer screen, unless something on it is seriously funny. actually I would usually type 'ha ha' or 'heh' if I think something is slightly funny.

I don't use lol too much except in IM conversations. When I'm truly laughing out loud I usually say "LOL!" or "ROFL" :P
