Okay, ever since I installed Photoshop 7.0 onto my new computer with Windows XP it has been freezing. It said something about the scratch disks, but I still can't figure out what's wrong with it. Can someone please help me. Please!

I think I figured out what my problem is. I only have one hard drive on my computer. My friend has XP with photoshop on her computer and it works perfectly for her and she has 2 hard drives.

That shouldn't make a difference; I have XP and photoshop one the same hard drive and it works fine. It may have something it do with the amount of memory or free space you have on your computer. Right click on "my computer" and go to properties... what does it say under the "computer" part for RAM? You can also check your free space by going to My Computer and clicking on C:, it should tell you on the left how much space you have.

"You currently have Adobe Photoshop's primary Scratch and Windows' primary paging file on the same volume, which can result in reduced performance. It is recommended that you set Adobe Photoshop's primary Scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different physical drive."

That's what it said when I installed photoshop.

to me that sounds like your space is very low :)
it tells you that you should install photoshop on another harddrive to get better performances and results (if i get this right though). How much harddrive space do you have?

i have one harddrive and photoshop with XP and works fine, so it must be your harddrive space.

that's wut i think to. i had photoshop with 98 and now i have it with xp and one harddrive and it works fine. it must be your RAM. or it could be your pc's virtual memory is to low to use such a large program.

I have 10.2 GB and I right clicked on my computer and it says I have 224 MB of RAM.
