View Full Version : Anyone else got this problem? :P
Shirl 08-11-2004, 05:41 PM Haha, yes I just got home from a dentist appointment....
Nearly all my life I've had a fear of needles. So naturally, I loathe the dentist with a passion lol. Though I usually dont mind the dentists needles too much because they prevent pain lol.....but sure enough, the minute the man took out the needle.........well, lets just say my breakfast was displayed on his lovely waxed floor :stickout: hahahaha
At least I warned him though:D
Me:umm doc...I think im gonna be sick...I dont like needles
doc: its okay, you'll be fine ::::takes out needle:::
me: ooohh...... ::: icky icky icky:::
breakfast=on the floor
hahah
so, just curious....anyone else have a fear of needles....or dentists lol?
Oh yeah, I'm terrified of both...but I don't think I'll do what you did, though...
Poor you...
Shirl 08-11-2004, 05:59 PM Yeah, and then theres something in the needle that makes me nausiated as well, and I usually get sick afterwards. :( I don't know what it is though, I see a needle and feel sick to my stomache and extremely dizzy. I know theres a word for it lol but I dont remember....needlephobia hahaha lol :D
Whem I was little, when I saw a needle my eyes would, like, float out of my head, I cried so much, but i guess that's what little kids do. And I have a dentist appointment is in a week and I'm afraid he's going to pull out his giant purple needle...ugh I hate it!!!!
whalersfan 08-11-2004, 06:23 PM i personally am not afraid of doctors/dentists/needles, but i know a lot of people who are... i think it's a rather common phobia. i know poeple who pass out at the sight of needles... sorry you lost your breakfast! that does not sound like fun...
i usually just get queezy after i have blood drawn or like when i got my eye brow pierced i felt light headed after it was all said and done... ick.
Shirl 08-11-2004, 06:24 PM Heheh. Yeah I have to go get another tooth filled as well...My braces caused a tiny cavity where I would never have seen it if my ortho. hadnt showed me :P heheh....but alas, hopefully that will be my last needle incident :D
i hate needles, but what's so great is when the doctor is going to give you one and says there might be side effects....i don't know about you....but once the words side effects and needles are put together theres no way I'm going to want one...but then again, when i think of it, needles don't really hurt, just a pinch
Shirl 08-11-2004, 06:36 PM Yes, but I still feel like fainting when i see one :D Which is why my mother never has to worry about me getting a tatoo. :P hahaha
That won't stop ME from getting a tattoo! I want one like Chester's!! And I won't regret 'cause his look cool...
bourdelson 08-11-2004, 06:57 PM That won't stop ME from getting a tattoo! I want one like Chester's!! And I won't regret 'cause his look cool...
Which tattoo? The flame ones on his wrist, the Pisces one, the Japanese koi one, the one of "him on stage" on his back [it's his friend's interpretation of him on stage], the Linkin Park written in Old English with the dragons on the side on his lower back, the dragon on his right lower leg, or the Hybrid Theory soldier on his left lower leg?
You won't give up will you.
Maybe the flame ones, ot the Hybrid Theory soldier. Happy?:stickout:
Shirl 08-11-2004, 07:03 PM Heheheh. :D Bourdelson...sorry didnt think to ask, but are you a girl or guy? hehe, I knew where his tatoos were, but I dont have the locations memorized.....you rock! :D
bourdelson 08-11-2004, 07:06 PM bourdelson is a girl. Her name is Amanda. :D
Sorry, but, I wanted to know which of his tattoos you wanted, xero. It was just a question.
salomeyasobko 08-11-2004, 07:07 PM i don't mind dentists and i'm not really afraid of needles, i'm afraid of being poked/stabbed/injected with them
Shirl 08-11-2004, 07:09 PM heheh, yeah I think i kinda P-Oed my mom once when i said 'Well mother...its settled, stop nagging me because I will never have a tatoo or become a herion addict' hehehe. :P
Heheheh. :D Bourdelson...sorry didnt think to ask, but are you a girl or guy?
Can't you tell? Did you see her profile? Have you noticed that probably 90% of people in LEIA are female?
Shirl 08-11-2004, 07:16 PM I dont look at profiles :D I can usually tell by a name or personality. But alas...LP fans are hard to tell. :D Anyway, I know now :)
Ravie 08-11-2004, 07:18 PM Dunno never had a dentist stick a needle in my mouth, when I was awake

Am I hard to tell? :hehe:
Shirl 08-11-2004, 07:30 PM No, I know you're a girl....I saw it mentioned in another thread I think....though I'd feel very foolish if you turned out to be a guy, which I first thought when I saw your name the first time :D
Oh good 'cause you're right, I'm a girl :)
Shirl 08-11-2004, 07:35 PM :D I think we're straying a bit off topic lol ...back to the topic....ugh, NEEDLES ARE HORRIBLE !
Um, yeah...I so totally AGREE!
hcgirl80 08-11-2004, 08:10 PM I hope I pass out or something next time I get a shot or am about to get a shot... and the next time, too, so mom won't think it's a fluke, and then, NO MORE SHOTS FOR ME!!!(Hopefully:/)

lefty 08-11-2004, 08:13 PM I have an unnatural fear of needles, but I think I'm improving. I recently had to get blood taken and I didn't squim and/or feel faint. :P
It may have been the alergy test I had a couple years back, in which they inject you with whatever it is you're being tested for. I went twice and got at least 10 shots in each arm. ::shudder::
Shirl 08-11-2004, 08:14 PM Hate to tell ya....but I've actually passed out once, and it doesnt stop you from having to get shots :P Though with our technology I think future generations will be able to just take a pill or something. :D
Shots are there to protect you from diseases, so if you don't like seeing needles or something maybe you should shut your eyes through the whole thing or something.
Shirl 08-11-2004, 08:36 PM Its the thought of them and the sight of them. Either way I still get sick, but I put up with it. :P

I had alergy testing done. The person, who did the testing, she put 3 rows of 30 shots, on each of my arms. Then when the doctor came in to check he threw a fit because they were so close together, that he couldn't tell what I was reacting too. Also, she stuck the needle totally inside, instead of sideways just the tip. I did pass out. And they had to keep me there for several hours to make sure I was all right. And I had to go back again.
lefty 08-11-2004, 08:49 PM 30 shots? My arm would have exploded if they did that.
I had 4 rows of 4 shots each, but they didn't have to do all 16 of them - it was obvious by shot #2 on most what I was allergic to. Before the test started she told me I couldn't touch my arm, scratch it, or anything and I'm like, okay no problem.
Once she stuck me with everything, my arms itched like crazy. As soon as I got out to my car, I sat and scratched my arms for like 5 minutes. It was torture. :P
xstaticxpallorx 08-11-2004, 08:52 PM I haaaaate needles. I have such a weak stomach.

:lolol:hehehehe
bourdelson 08-11-2004, 10:59 PM I've never had a fear of needles, but the last time I got a shot, I fainted afterward. O___o; My doctor said it was an "adrenaline rush" from wanting the shot to hurry and be over with.
But, I did get to stay home from school the rest of the day instead of going in late. That's always a plus. Well, except for the fact that it was the third day of school last year.
Tsuki Usagi 08-11-2004, 11:06 PM I hate needles, but I hate iv's even more. One time I had a vain bust when an iv was put in.
