I made these two animations...
http://beyond-recall.com/nickelback.swf
http://beyond-recall.com/nickelback2.swf
But neither of them work exactly how I want them to. Obviously I want the dot to travel smoothly to the i and then the underline to appear under the word (by just running from one side of the word to the other) but I don't know what I keep doing wrong. :( Can anyone give me any idea?
Sorry, just realised this should be in the Flash section [too late to edit original post].

well this is probably stupid help because i've never used what you have, but if you have frame by frame animation, then you should put in alot more and make the dot only move the tinyest amount ever. Its hella annoying tho.

take that tutorial. Once you're done with it, do exactly the same, but instead of using text use a dot. of course experiment a bit around with it.

I broke up the text twice - I thought that made it into a graphic?

maybe u should use tweened animation to move your dot and line..
if you dont know how to do it, there should be a help right... go to 08 Animation.. (i think so as I'm only using Flash 5, though seroiusly i prefer 4 most of all)
for the dot, look out for the part when u see a bee and a bee hive in the 08 Animation... use that 1.
for the line, i'm thinking u can use transform but i'm not so sure..
hope it helps..

if you are really having probs, perhaps you can upload your flash file and tell us where to download it so we can have a look at what you did exactly.
Okay, here's the original .fla... this is before I started playing around with it and stuff.

I can't open it in Flash 5 :(
Try this! (http://beyond-recall.com/nickelback2.fla)

Okay, you can find the new file here:

I made some changes: I converted the dot to a symbol and created a "guide layer", with a path that the dot is supposed to follow, using a motion tween.
I then converted the line to a symbol that starts small and end wide, again using a motion tween.
Hope this helps!
p.s., I think it's the converting to symbols that really does the trick here... otherwise you can't really use motion tween.
Thankyou! I understand what I was doing wrong now :)
