well... grandparents moved to philippines from china, both my parents were born in the philippines, then moved to canada... n had me =) so we have a chinese last name but speak tagalog in the house. *along with our dialect of chinese* <--which i can't understand unlike tagalog which i do understand.

this filipino chick i used to know had a license plate that said sik pny or something like that... i know it is tagalog but what the heck does it mean!?!?

Sik? I have no idea but pinoy means someone who's filipino...pinay is for a girl.

And my mom told me this story. There was some people who wanted to learn how to say "Good afternoon" in tagalog, so my mom was like "It's magandang hapon". When she asked the people to repeat it they were like "maganda hapon"...which also means "beautiful Japanese". :hehe: Just thought I would share. :)

lol Xero =P I got a funny one too... my cousin... she was trying to learn Tagalog cuz unfortunately they don't know Tagalog since her parents don't talk to her in it... well she was trying to say that the house was big... or "Ang bahay ay malaki." or something like that lol well she said "Mabuhay ang lalaki." which translates into something like... "Long live men." haha that happened a couple years ago but i'm still laughing about it =P

I'm pinay also, but I'm a mixed one. Filipinos do have spanish ancestry. My father though, was really spanish. He was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain and then joined the military. I was born in the US, but I was raised in Japan since I was little. I came back to the US when I was 6. I don't know how to speak Filipino though. I speak Japanese and English though. :idea:

im a pinay as well. my great grandpa moved here from england and married a pinay so I currently still reside here with my family in Cebu City. kumusta sa inyo mga pinoy. i speak tagalog, cebuano (our dialect), english and i got a great british accent. lol !

sorry for double-posting, but this is fun. i keep comin in here every time im in computer class. but sometimes when im not doin anything i go here. so yah. this was just random. hmm....what else to talk about? oh yeah im so ^^^^ed becuz i almost got into the medalist thing. i got 4 B's and 2 freggin A's. only if i got at least 3 A's and 3 B's, then i would've gotten in it. oh well hmm. theres next semester. and yes, i am VERY bored. thats why im talkin about this.
