View Full Version : Is this just my computer?
Every time I close out of LEIA, I get this pop-up flood. It's only with LEIA. It acts like a virus, but the computer says there are no viruses... and I was wondering if this happens to everyone or just me... And I don't know if this belongs here or somewhere else. O.O
mz_angela 08-04-2004, 09:29 PM well it doesnt happen to me and im not sure if its with everyone or just you.
LesPaul59 08-04-2004, 09:29 PM It doesn't happen to me, so it must be you :(
Shirl 08-04-2004, 09:30 PM I don't know....it isn't happening to me. Maybe you've got spyware on your PC....you should get spybot. :)
We got spybot. It messed up the computer. So we took it off... So yeah it must be my computer. Curse it.
LesPaul59 08-04-2004, 09:33 PM Adaware is free, or I really like Spy Sweeper.
What I don't get is why it's just here.
Oh, and it's not just if I close the LEIA window; it's if I have multiple windows open and LEIA is the last one I close. Might be a coincidence... but it's rather odd...
salomeyasobko 08-04-2004, 09:36 PM that's weird! but it doesn't happen to me =(
Munchkin 08-04-2004, 09:40 PM That happens to me, but on Internet Explorer. O__o But then, my IE has a virus...
Its not happening to me, if its an ad from LEIA, if you look at your taskbar you will see it re-direct from lissaexplains.com
i use ad-aware, it doesn't find all things but enough get it here

I read the reviews for spybot, and most people say it ruins their computer, so i don't trust it, good luck finding what's adding all the pop-ups
darckasasin 08-05-2004, 01:02 AM It usually is spyware. I use to have Kazaa, Neonapster, Ares, and any mp3 finder you can think of. I went to this one site and got flooded with about 20 pop-ups. Good thing I had the Google toolbar
Little Hushy 08-05-2004, 05:51 AM When I first go into LEIA I only get a couple ad's. When I close out I get nothing.
Aussie Cap 08-05-2004, 07:07 AM Maybe the spyware can see that you have an interest in computer related things, and there's a lot of ads that relate to technology? Download the free version of Adaware at the Lavasoft website. (http://www.lavasoft.com)
4sight 08-05-2004, 04:54 PM Sounds like registry spyware to me, or you have downloaded a bad packet. First I would first start out with adaware or spybot and then check your start-up menu and remove anything you dont recognise.
If that doesnt work try and scan it with something like this (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/)
xstaticxpallorx 08-05-2004, 06:31 PM My computer tends to get a lot of pop-ups when it's not even online.
But that's because my computer is just a mess, even Spy Sweeper doesn't work anymore.
