I got contacts today! Well, I don't have them in, because one of them was irritating my eye, and it had junk on it, so I'm soaking them. I think I used half the starter bottle of solution spending an hour trying to get it off. Can't do that again, that stuff has to last me a week. Anyway, my right eye feels funny now, I think I used a bit much solution, so I flushed my eye. My left one was fine, though.

Oh well, I hope I can get used to them (and not irritate my right eye more, my Mom insists that I could have scratched my iris. Real optimist there.) because I hate my glasses. I once ::cough:: accidentally dropped them under the car wheel, and they broke. Then I ::cough:: accidentally smashed a bucket over them and the lenses finally cracked. (I had a warranty, I was hoping for new ones, but they made me get the same frames. Evil saleslady.)

I hope so. I was kind of unhappy to give up, because I couldn't even feel the other one. However, after dousing it with solution for an hour, I decided I do need some solution for the rest of the week. It should be nice and clean by tomorrow, and if it still doesn't work, I will call my eye doctor. It was so nice for the five minutes before I read the little instruction booklet that came with the solution and it said, "If you feel any discomfort at all, take your contacts out IMEDIATELY."

heh, I almost got contacts today lol

first of all, I had a 12:30 eye exam, and I said I was considering trying contacts. apparently everyone was going to lunch at 1:00, so I had to go back at 2:00. I was having some trouble getting them in and out- the doctor put them in the first time, then I eventually managed to get the right out, back in, and out again, but I couldn't get the left out at all. and they said that they don't allow anyone to go home with them unless they can get them in/out twice... and since I had been trying a lot, I had to stop before my eyes started to get irritated. so I get to go back again tomorrow at 2:00 :P

so did you get them? I lost one of mine the next day. I was putting it in, and I thought I had got it, but it fell out and when I put the other one in I couldn't see properly. I had to get a replacement the day after that, and before I went I found the original. My hair brush has open spaces where you can see through it, and it's black, so the contact got stuck their and I couldn't see it. The the next day it had dried up, so when I picked up my brush it fell out. I still couldn't use it though, since it was all dried out.

I have gotten them in for two consecutive days now, and am very proud of myself. On the right one (the one I had to replace) There is a little peice out of it because I caught it with my nail, but it isn't big enough to bother about, and hasn't irritated my eye.

I'm so happy! I can see!

yeah, I ended up getting them the next day (Tuesday)... apparently the second time I went to try them out they tried a different type of contact, and it seemed to work better for me but that may just be because I had some practice the first day. it seems I have Acuvue 2's now :P I kept them in for the 2 hours like they said, then on Wednesday I was supposed to wear them for 3 hours, but I had them in for like 45 minutes when it felt like there was something in my left eye, so I took it out, rinsed it off and put it back in, then it actually hurt, so I just took them out for the day... yesterday I went to put them in, it wasn't working and I was getting frustrated so I was being a little... rough, and the right one tore. so today I got a replacement and had them in for the 5 hours I was supposed to be up to today.

I'm not sure I like them though... my vision seems a little fuzzier with them, but that may be adjusted with a slightly different prescription. they have gotten a little easier to get in and out (especially out... when I took them out today I got both on the first try), but I think they'll just take a little more getting used to. but I have another appointment this Tuesday, when the doctor will really figure out if he should change the prescription and all that.

I have Acuvue 2's, and I've been prescripted Opti-free contact solution. I don't have certain hours or anything, they just told me to wear them during the day and take them out at night. The whole rinsing off and it got worse thing is what I did when I got home the first day. At first it was just weird feeling, then it got scratchy, then it hurt bad, and then I gave up.

Yeah, I have the fuzzyness thing too. Sometimes I can't focus properly, and sometimes things just look weird. I think it might be that because what they give you the first week are like preset prescriptions, and they give you the closest one, then they order the perfect perscription and everything when you go back in. That would definitely explain why they are fuzzy and why it takes them seconds to get me a new contact. My appointment's Monday, and then I hope nothing looks weird. I can feel mine too. It's weird, but I can tell they're there most of the time. That could just be that I'm over-sensitive to stuff like that. For instance, where as a lot of people don't notice a shot or getting blood drawn except for the initial sting if they don't look, I can feel the serum squirting into my vein, and the suction from the blood coming out. It's like hereditary(sp?) or something.

I can take them out fairly easily, it's just getting them in. I usually get one in easy, then spend ten minutes on the other one.

they just told me to wear them 2 hours the first day, 3 the next, 4 the following day, etc. until I got up to 8 hours, which I would do by my next appointment.

I don't really notice mine once they're in (well, except for the fuzziness thing lol, but I don't feel them actually on), unless it happens to feel like there's something in one of my eyes (which happened before, but it went away once I took it out and rinsed it and all that).

and I hate my left eye :P for some reason it seems to be like more sensitive than my right or something, because I can't help but blink more when I'm trying to get my left contact in... plus it also happens to be the one I have worse vision in I believe- I usually put the right one in first so that I can see what I'm doing in the left more clearly :P

My eyes have equal vision, and mine isn't that bad: 20/40. Like I said, I'm oversensitive to being able to feel stuff. I swear, if I ever had a transplant I'd die from complications because my body would freak out like some peoples, only mine'd probably be worse.

My left hand gets in the way. Like, I'm right-handed, so my left is what holds open my top lid, and my hand and my arm get in the way of me being able to see in the mirror and getting the contact in without it get bumped and flattened out on my finger.

^ EWWWWWW!!
I want contacts, but my mother thinks I look "cute" with glasses. I'm weird in that one of my eyes is almost 20 vision, while the other is really really bad (shortsighted). I can see fine without my glasses (contrary to what my mom thinks, she seems to think i'm blind without my glasses) and I only wear them in class and to movies. but I do admit that I see better with glasses...My only problem is I have issues with getting things in and out of my eyes. I can't even put eye drops in without flinching. Are contacts very hard to get in and out?

at first, but your supposed to get used to it. I am the same way as you, but I've gotten them in for like 5 days now. Everyone I know that has had em a while can do in like thirty seconds. It's hard at first because you can't blink, but you have your eye pried open to so that helps.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't mean to gross anyone out. I just am that way. It's weird, because they always tell you not to look and you won't feel anything, but I do so I'm like, "Ew, that feels weird." It doesn' really hurt though.

I'm weird in that one of my eyes is almost 20 vision, while the other is really really bad.that's like me, except my other eye is so bad it's like.. neither near nor farsighted.. everything is just really out of focus and grainy :hehe:

i don't really know how to explain what stuff looks like with my bad eye.. it looks like someone opened up PSP/PS or whatever and did the "add noise" effect. =(

heh that's okay, it's just strange! I have enough issues with needles that I don't need to feel them taking my blood, too :P

If I didn't have good vision, I couldn't stand having contacts. I don't like things near my eyes. My family has/had good eyesight. My brother had a detached retina, so he looks like a pirate now, not his eyes are good other then that.

Oh, you're so lucky, my parents say they're too expensive, even my mom doesn't have them. My eyesight is REALLY, REALLY bad, my grade is about 500 (look at it this way, I cannot read a picture book farther than 10 cm away from my face, and if I walk around without my glasses for more than 20 minutes, I get nauseous). And I'm only 13. @_@

Eek, I could never put in contacts. I don't like the idea of stuff coming near my eye while it's open. I have 20/40 vision, thankfully. It's kind of odd, though, how one of your eyes can see better or worse than the other. o.O

xstaticxpallorx, then you'd only have to put one contact in...there would be less hassle. heh he.

i got contact recently too. for me they irritate really bad once i get them in, but if i just relax, the sting goes away. i am still on my first pair. i don't wear them for long periods of time, because things (esp. lights) get blurry. i have really bad eyes. I have -5.75 in one eye and 5.50 in the left. i do look better in glasses, tho, because i have small eyes, so the glasses take up more face><

I no longer have contacts haha

I had noticed that while I had them in, my eyes felt kind of dry and after a while they just started to hurt- like it wasn't the contact feeling weird, my eyes actually felt like they were going to explode or something. so I had my follow-up appointment today, and they had me try a different type of lens meant for people with dry eyes... they weren't any better. looks like I'm sticking with glasses, yee-HAW. :P

I want contacts really bad. Im fine with my glasses but contacts would be cool, especially if they were green. I really want green eyes lol.

Someone I work with recently turned to me and asked, "is that your natural eye color?" It took me by surprise and I couldn't figure out why she would ask, but I guess I just have a cool eye color

People have asked me that before, also. I stare at them, like, "How stupid are you? Why would I be wearing conacts and glasses at the same time?!" My eyes are hazel, so they look like they change color. It's spiffy. ^__^
