View Full Version : Why do they take my posts away?
rspybrook 08-01-2004, 05:52 PM I've noticed that I can make many posts one night (for example my post count was around 85) and the next morning when I go to post again my post count is down ten or so maybe.
I know for a fact I don't double post (except once as a mistake but I learned how to fix that) and I think all of the posts that I make don't have any reason for moderators to delete them. What am I doing to get my posts deleted? Is it maybe because I added outside links in them or something?
I try to stick to the rules as best I can!
Just wondering anyway, lemme know how to prevent my posts from being deleted! Thanks in advance! =)
starlet 08-01-2004, 06:00 PM Do you have an example of a post thats been deleted, or a thread with delete posts by you in it? All i can say is i know i havnt been deleting your posts so im not sure why they are being deleted...are you sure they are? If they are then the 'deleted' post or thread will still show up for me, but i dont see any.
Do you know posts in the fiction section dont count?
rspybrook 08-01-2004, 06:41 PM well, i'm pretty sure i wasn't posting in the fiction section and usually when i see a post has been deleted it shows like "deleted by: (moderator)" and i don't see those where i have posted... i just doesn't show up!
i guess i couldn't give you an example really because i don't remember exactly where i posted that it hasn't shown up... but it will count it, and then the next morning it just won't be there anymore =(
have you ever heard of this happening before?
Sheila 08-01-2004, 06:56 PM 1. You're not answering the question.
2. Double & Triple Posting
rspybrook 08-01-2004, 09:50 PM alright i found an example in this thread (http://www.lissaexplains.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59959). i had answered the livejournal question and the next day my answer was gone and not even a "this post was deleted" showed up!
starlet 08-02-2004, 12:54 AM Well i'm not sure you arent imagining things since the 'deleted' thing always shows up when something gets deleted but...a few pointers going on from what Sheila said...
If your response does not help answer the question it will get deleted
If you repeat what has already been said it will get deleted
If you post more than once in a row we merge it with the other one and delete the 'double'
4sight 08-02-2004, 01:28 AM Rspy, the mods here do a really good job to keep the board clean. Also if one thread is deleted for whatever reason and you have a few posts on it then you lose those posts. I found they do it for a very good reason and thats one thing I like about this board, the mods are very selective and for good reason.

i know for a fact i'm not imagining things. this has happened more than once i just don't care to look all over the boards for more examples. i'm just going to assume then that it is a problem with the message board system.
as i said before i've only double posted once (and then realized my mistake), and all the posts i've made were to help answer a question (unless it was not in the html help forum or otherwise) as in the livejournal example i gave you.
i think the last part of your post, however, was somewhat redundant wouldn't you say? you repeated what Sheila has already said. shouldn't it be merged and deleted? i mean, come on now, as a moderator you have to set good examples right? =)
weird girl 08-02-2004, 03:35 AM She added onto what Sheila said. Sheila did not mention the deletion and merging bit. :)
Anyways, something similar to that has happened to me before. Perhaps you thought you clicked on the reply button, and didn't at all (perhaps you didn't use enough force on your mouse button to click the reply button?), or your computer is being a butthead... The first one is more likely though. :P
Shirl 08-02-2004, 03:37 AM Perhaps she repeated it becuase she didn't see Sheila's post, or maybe she thought you hadn't read that part, or maybe she was just telling you the rules which is part of a moderator's job! No need to go hostile, they are just posts after all:D Take it from 4sight, there are really only 3 simple rules to a good post:
1. SPEEDPOSTERS ARE EVIL!
2. Don't argue with the Mods.
3. If you deliberately anger us, you can expect public humiliation, just ask 4sight. :D
starlet 08-02-2004, 03:38 AM I was just trying to be helpful to expand on what Sheila said, like i said i dont know why your posts are being deleted because i dont remember doing it myself and ive seen no examples so i was just trying to give you possible explanations, remind me not to bother in future.
Dude128 08-02-2004, 03:41 AM i mean, come on now, as a moderator you have to set good examples right?
yes, moderators should and generally do set a good example. however, you have to understand that once in a while some of us slip up because of all the stuff we get to deal with from the people that constantly complain and criticize.
4sight 08-02-2004, 03:48 AM Good point WG, the merge threads thing got me too rspy. This board isnt like other boards, they really take pride in keeping the board clean, which I can respect. It wont be the last time youll find some posts gone. Its common and reallly not a big deal.
Also you dont want any part of these girls, trust me.
Shirl 08-02-2004, 03:55 AM Why, whatever do you mean 4sight? [/false innocence] :D
weird girl 08-02-2004, 03:58 AM I'm not sure what he's on about either. See my halo? Yes I have a halo! SEE?? O:)
4sight 08-02-2004, 04:27 AM LOL, you guys are EVIL.
Shirl 08-02-2004, 04:34 AM You mean, us GALS are evil. :P Not guys. :D And yes, I am evil....ever heard of karma? :D heheheheh
weird girl 08-02-2004, 04:45 AM I have a halo, dangit! Look at my halo! See? I'm not evil. I'm not! *Knows nobody will fall for it*
lefty 08-02-2004, 06:22 AM i know for a fact i'm not imagining things. this has happened more than once i just don't care to look all over the boards for more examples. i'm just going to assume then that it is a problem with the message board system.
There is no "problem" with the "message board system." If a post has been deleted it has been removed by a moderator and there is no question about it. I suggest you stop blaming the board for something you personally have done wrong and take what has been said to mind and maybe your posts will not be removed in the future.
Sheila 08-02-2004, 03:51 PM as i said before i've only double posted once (and then realized my mistake), and all the posts i've made were to help answer a question (unless it was not in the html help forum or otherwise) as in the livejournal example i gave you.
Not true, because I'm the one who has been deleting your posts. You've made a ton of double posts and one time a triple post. And you made a couple answers that were stating your opinion and not a help answer.
Now I'm closing this thread, because I do NOT need to explain myself. Besides everywhere I have deleted your threads, I have left an explanation anyway.
