oooo that makes me mad! I bought a modem on ebay for my new laptop, and it took me 6 or 7 hours to get paypal to let me pay for it!!!!!

First they claimed that my moms credit card wasn't valid, which was not true, then they told me that their services could not be reached and to try again later!!! 'scuse my french, but WHAT THE *bad word*!!! It should not take nearly 7 hours to simply pay for an item!

Well I managed to pay for my modem with my dads credit card, after waiting about 2 hours on the phone with the paypal company!

I don't plan on using paypal anymore! That is ridiculous!

I couldnt give up, once you bid on an item and win, you are in a legal contract and have to pay for it, and I really need a modem for my laptop:) With luck, it will be at my house next week.

i am with rosey... not to say that you didn't have a problem tho... however, most people on eBay will only accept paypal so that will put a damper on your bidding if you frequent ebay...

I know what you mean about hating paypal. I'm currently going through the whole getting verified process, and it's a major pain in the bum (I don't WANT to call my bank!).

I've never had that problem with paypal though, indeed it is odd.

just out of random curiosity, was it an actual credit card, or a debit card?

because I just tried ordering my laptop for college with my debit card, and the stupid thing won't go through. I first tried logging in at my credit union's site just to double check the amount I had in my checking account, and their site seemed to be down (but they actually use some credit union site I think, I don't think it's their own system), then when it said my order was cancelled and to call the bank, I thought maybe they were just having problems.

and about getting verified thing, you may not have to call them- I can log in to my account online and check balances and transactions, so within a few days I saw the amounts listed like they want you to check. if you get a monthly statement (I get one from the credit union for my savings and checking accounts, I didn't when I had a savings account at a bank), it should also show up on there, you'd just have to wait for the statement to come.

You can breathe fire? You're hired! :D

Paypal's like the biggest transaction thingy; you'll find yourself using it again eventually, I bet.

It was a credit card Dude. :) Nah, I cancelled my paypal account, this isn't the first time I've had problems with them. Lucky for me, the guy whom I bought the modem from also accepted checks. :) I'm not a frequent Ebayer, just occasionally.
