Really what's the point of frontpage? I think their wysiwyg thing is a complete bogus lie. Its not always what you see is what you get. Yes frontpage is nice if you are a beginner, but it has its limitations.

You hit on it right there. It is great for people who need a little help and don't know how to make a webpage. It is SUPER for someone who wants to learn HTML. They can compair what they have done to the HTML given. It it just easy.

the point of frontpage :
to force people to lean HTML to fix all the mistakes it makes.

in that regard, it seems to be doing a good job :D

<sarcasm>Oh yes, something that completely screws up your code is absotuley great to compare a perfectly good code with to find mistakes. It is just SUPER for someone learning html. </sarcasm>

I'm sorry my friend, but I agree with pb&j on this one. All it is really good for is making someone so angry that they finally make the right choice and learn html.

no offense meant to anyone, but FrontPage is designed to make people "feel" like they're a web developer.

if you want to do it, and you want to do it well, learn HTML and use Notepad.

Or another text editor, depending on your needs. :) I use HTML-Kit, and I find it much better than Notepad (except the time it takes to start up :grouch: ) :P
And Mac users have SimpleText, I believe. :P

Ehhh. I used front page a lot like 4 years ago. It WAS important to helping me learn HTML because I could type something into the HTML section and see how it turned up. Esp. for tables.

my point was that you can only truly say you know what you're doing when you don't use an editor to lean on - like HTML-kit.

And that's where I come into the story. I tried it because I wanted to get a web page fast, but it wasn't any good. Besides, I enjoy being able to write the code myself.

I've used frontpage but it didn't really help me learn code. It was great to have a page up fast without knowing code, but now that I've moved past the newbie webdesign stage I prefer Notepad. Really frontpage is great for beginners, have no shame in that. :)
