Okay, what I'm talking about is animal abuse...one of the only things that will get me totally fired up and cheesed off.
Some people, they don't seem to care about what they do to animals. Okay, so animals can't talk. DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY DON'T HAVE FEELINGS? I've been looking through the SPCA adoption category (I'm thinking of getting another rabbit) and some of the stories just make me want to cry and strangle something at the same time. Take this story, for instance: In the SPCA Adoption, there's a little one eared rabbit named Brandy. Why is she one eared? Because some IDIOT, NON CARING person let his DOG on her on PURPOSE, for a LAUGH. LAUGH? Can you tell me WHAT IS FUNNY ABOUT AN INNOCENT RABBIT BEING SAVAGED BY A DOG (and the dog is just following his instincts?)
Or the countless stories of rabbits being abandoned (and not just rabbits. Cats, dogs- you name it) in the park, with stupid idiot people thinking they'll be able to survive. Hello? Please come to reality. These rabbits that they release in the park have never been out in the wild, and their instincts are gone. They have no clue what to do. They huddle under a bush and wait for their owner to come and save them. And the sad part? Their owners never come back.
This is about a bunny named Spirit:
Poor little Spirit was brought in by a kind lady who found her in Stanley Park. She had been sitting in one place for several days, no doubt terrified. She has a nice nature and is probably only 6 months old. Spirit had two little babies after she was with us for a few days...
Now, what do you think Spirit felt as she huddled underneath something for several days, waiting for someone to help her?
And I'm only touching on the rabbits. Countless animals are abused every day and nobody seems to care.
So they can't talk. That doesn't mean they don't speak.
And oh, in some ways I think animals are more civilized then us humans.
I'm sorry, I just had to speak my mind. I love animals, and everytime I think of some :grouch: person maltreating them because they think it's funny....and the stupid government doesn't care. Sure, they have some animal protection stuff....but it's not enough. Don't they see? People not spaying their animals and bringing little babies into the world who are unwanted and probably soon to be dead by human means....Animals dumped on the SPCA doorstep because they were purchased on a whim and their owners don't want them anymore....It's a sad story that only gets sadder. You don't adopt an animal for a toy. Animals aren't toys, they're living, breathing creatures who, just because they can't talk in a way we know, feel pain. We don't care enough, and it's the sad truth.
I went to a student convention for peer mediators, (to help learn about anger etc.) and we were supposed to put three things on a little paper button that "Pushed our buttons", e.g. made us angry, and wear them. My first was Animal Abuse...and almost every person who saw my button said "Animal abuse?" in a tone that implied that it wasn't really that important. And everytime I said "Yes." We share this world with so many creatures that we have befriended. Let us continue to befriend them.
