Okay, what I'm talking about is animal abuse...one of the only things that will get me totally fired up and cheesed off.
Some people, they don't seem to care about what they do to animals. Okay, so animals can't talk. DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY DON'T HAVE FEELINGS? I've been looking through the SPCA adoption category (I'm thinking of getting another rabbit) and some of the stories just make me want to cry and strangle something at the same time. Take this story, for instance: In the SPCA Adoption, there's a little one eared rabbit named Brandy. Why is she one eared? Because some IDIOT, NON CARING person let his DOG on her on PURPOSE, for a LAUGH. LAUGH? Can you tell me WHAT IS FUNNY ABOUT AN INNOCENT RABBIT BEING SAVAGED BY A DOG (and the dog is just following his instincts?)
Or the countless stories of rabbits being abandoned (and not just rabbits. Cats, dogs- you name it) in the park, with stupid idiot people thinking they'll be able to survive. Hello? Please come to reality. These rabbits that they release in the park have never been out in the wild, and their instincts are gone. They have no clue what to do. They huddle under a bush and wait for their owner to come and save them. And the sad part? Their owners never come back.
This is about a bunny named Spirit:

Poor little Spirit was brought in by a kind lady who found her in Stanley Park. She had been sitting in one place for several days, no doubt terrified. She has a nice nature and is probably only 6 months old. Spirit had two little babies after she was with us for a few days...

Now, what do you think Spirit felt as she huddled underneath something for several days, waiting for someone to help her?
And I'm only touching on the rabbits. Countless animals are abused every day and nobody seems to care.
So they can't talk. That doesn't mean they don't speak.
And oh, in some ways I think animals are more civilized then us humans.

I'm sorry, I just had to speak my mind. I love animals, and everytime I think of some :grouch: person maltreating them because they think it's funny....and the stupid government doesn't care. Sure, they have some animal protection stuff....but it's not enough. Don't they see? People not spaying their animals and bringing little babies into the world who are unwanted and probably soon to be dead by human means....Animals dumped on the SPCA doorstep because they were purchased on a whim and their owners don't want them anymore....It's a sad story that only gets sadder. You don't adopt an animal for a toy. Animals aren't toys, they're living, breathing creatures who, just because they can't talk in a way we know, feel pain. We don't care enough, and it's the sad truth.
I went to a student convention for peer mediators, (to help learn about anger etc.) and we were supposed to put three things on a little paper button that "Pushed our buttons", e.g. made us angry, and wear them. My first was Animal Abuse...and almost every person who saw my button said "Animal abuse?" in a tone that implied that it wasn't really that important. And everytime I said "Yes." We share this world with so many creatures that we have befriended. Let us continue to befriend them.

I feel the same way. There are so many poor critters in the world, and so many people that abuse them. They befriend them, then mistreat them. My kitten was killed because some idiot held his dogs leash too loose and didn't think about the animal's instincts harming anyone. Then of course the stupid idiot didn't even apoligize when my cat died because the dog killed her. I wasn't even there to see her die.

I can't stand to see people hurt animals or not do all they can to prevent their animal hurting another. And your right. The govt. doesn't do nearly enough. We hear issues like education and safety for us on political campaigns, and while all that is important it makes you wonder, "Do they even care about how many animals are abused?"

That makes me absolutely sick. :grouch:
I got my dog Cheyenne from the Humane Society, and when we got her she had heartworm. :( Our previous dog, Chuck, was scared of just about everything. Flashlights, vacuums (the movement more than the noise), brooms, scooters. An obvious indication his previous owner didn't treat him too well.
The government really does need to do something about it. Of course even that probably wouldn't stop people.

I think that cruelty to animals is horrible! There is a show on Animal Planet called Animal Cops and I can't even watch it cause it makes me so mad... however, I did let my 2 rats loose in a national park... they were evil tho and hated me and as soon as i opened the cage they jumped out and ran away... i bought 2 whole bags of hampster food and scattered it about tho so they would have something to eat until they adapted to the wild...

We got neither of our cats from the pound, but we got one of them, as a kitten, as a stray from our bus driver. He had a hernia, and because of that the family that had originally wanted him took him back, because they didn't want to pay the bills. Sucks to be them, he's one of the the sweetest cats ever.

This is why I'm blogathoning for NSAL America. We need to support no-kill shelters more and more, because animals deserve the right to live.

In Australia, we're experiencing the worst drought. The animals are dieing off pretty quickly, and the kangaroos have resorted to raiding the farmer's crops.

"We have to kill them- they're eating our food!"

Where's the logic in this? The kangaroos aren't breeding because there's not enough food, dieing off at a dangerous rate and all we can think about is our food being eaten. Sad.

one of the best solutions to the problem of overpopulation of animals is to please, please, please, spay and neuter your animals. there are people who think it is cruel, but those people usually end up dropping litters of babies off at animal shelters.

don't buy your new puppy or kitten at a puppy mill or pet store - there are hundreds of animals at your local SPCA who will love you loyaly, are usually already trained, less expensive, and you get the benefit of knowing you saved a life.

we're human beings, we have the ability to reason and process our abilities - in short, we can think. let's act like it.

hey guys, this is my first ever post to a forum of any kind, i've been trying to get some objective viewpoints on an issue with my dog. my dog, winnie, is staying at my parents house while i fix my townhouse to sell (she is very hyper and kind of destroys the townhouse very rapidly, which is why i am trying to sell the house and get one with a bigger backyard in the first place.) she has been there about two months now, and about a month ago, and within the same week, she nipped my new niece on the face, drawing blood, and then managed to get ahold of a new baby kitten that had found a hole in my parent's screened in porch. i discussed these issues with my brother, who told me to give her some time to see if she chilled out a little. so today i got a call from my dad who told me that another kitten (now with a full month's growth) had managed to find a way out of the screened in porch and had run into winnie, losing the battle in the goriest scenario imaginable. she is normally a very sweet, loving dog that i trained to roll over and sit, will come when called, etc. the hyperness around new people and other dogs is uncontrollable, and now she has managed to kill two of our pets! i think i have to draw a line on this one. does anybody have any ideas?????

Some people don't have feelings for animals, thats probably why they abuse them, they don't care what they hurt.
