Hey,
I wasnt quite sure where to post this...so, sorry if it's in the wrong section! I've just spent like 2hrs searching google to figure out how exactly would I make a blog layout using DIV layers, and this is my last resort (and yes i have searched the forum) I usually am successful once i post :)
I've never used DIV before or done a blog, so I have no idea how to start, but I've always been amazed at blog layouts, and wondered how I would do that. For example, I really love this layout here http:// www.iridescent-shimmer.net/designs/
and I dont know how to design a layout??i mean yes i do know how to make layouts and stuff, but not for DIV layers and stuff? like I'm really confused as to how long it should be, and where it ends and stuff, and i've really confused.....if im not making any sense please let me know! lol sorry
but i would love you forever if you could help me at least accomplish the first step! lol
thanks

Just make one big graphic, do not slice it but just make the layout as one big graphic. Everything that has weird fonts or graphics has to be on that graphic. Let it end at the part where you don't need to add special fonts anymore and where the rest can be repeated for the background.

Then make the background, and put the parts on it that need to be repeated, for example the blog part.

put the background on your html page with the <body background="urlhere.gif"> code

and put the graphic on your page with the <img> tag. Everything that will be positioned with divs will be on top of those 2 graphics. Mostly this is the content like blog text, links etc. An tutorial for div layouts can be found here:

That site doesn't tell you how to make it so the blog scrolls. Does anyone know the code for that???

Simple. Make your DIVs scroll:

<DIV id="name" style="position: absolute; top: 100px; width:100px; left: 100px; height:380px; overflow: auto;" align=left>Your HTML</DIV>

Change the bold information to what you want.

The blog should be able to scroll by itself. You shouldn't need to add any scroll code in the div layer.

Okay, so if Mirna can't link to her DIV Tutorial (http://mirna.ruptured.org/rewritable/div_layout.html), can I? Also, see starlet's tutorial (http://www.``````````````/divtutorial.shtml) for this.

Note: Someone tell me if that is allowed.

I thought they were talking about making it sort of like an iframe.
