A few people on LEIA really like fish and I was hoping they could help me. My goldfish, Mango, has about six through ten scales missing! I don't know if that's normal or if it means she's sick. I asked my friend if she knew and she said she probably was scared the first time she moved into the tank and bumbed into the wall a few times. Although she didn't sound so sure. Perhaps I'm wrong, but does anyone know what's going on? Please help!
My mom had two goldfish who lost scales. One died, the other is still alive. I'm not sure what it means. You may want to buy her some medicine, though. Try talking to someone who works at a place that sells fish.
I doubt it was because she bumped into a wall. I have an angelfish who bumps into the wall any time his light is turned on, and he has never lost any scales.

This calls for the fish stalker!!!! (SSPrincess). Like pom said, i suggest you talk to the vet or to the person you bought the fish from...

What a way to get my attention! :D
I haven't had goldfish in a while...about 2 years I think, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. My current fish, a betta, knocked himself out of his bowl twice and loss some of his fin, and he's doing okay. But it never hurts to ask a local pet store person if your fish is okay or not. You might also want to check the following link out about goldfish because it's a whole forum about goldfish care & etc:
