Do you? My friends think I'm weird because I do. They asked "What normal kid reads the newspaper?"

I'll occassionally read the newspaper if something looks interesting but generally not... much rather read it online instead of fussing about with oversized newsprint.

I despise any form of media!:)....I stopped watching the news a long time ago because im tired of hearing all the bad stuff...I'd rather not know about it:)

same here. What i don't know, can't scare me either ;)
i don't read the paper, i watch the news sometimes but i rather watch the more 'fun' news on SBS6 (channel) then the boring news on Ned1,2 or 3 (channels).

I read the metro section for our county everyday, ill sometimes peek at other articles if they look interesting, especially sports, so basically everyday i do check some part of it out. I watch the news everynight too :) I used to always hear that, 'kids dont watch the news or read the newpaper', well, look at the people who said that, and look at those who do, and keep up with schoolwork, youll see the difference so fast i dont even have to say it. lol. This is my little dream(you normal people call it a world), i live in it, id like to know whats going on in it.

heh, well Im 16 and hate the news, and I know plenty of adults who feel the same way, I think I stated dis-liking media after 9/11...as did many others. It's not that I dont want to live in the reality of the world, I'd just rather not think about it and go on blasting my headphones ignoring all of it:)

whcih part? the actual event, or how cnn milked every single penny out of a very sad event. DARN YOU CNN! i hate cnn so much, but i get so curious and watch it anyways! their so evil! (they're kinda milking money outta iraq war too, if ya haven't noticed... they make all these 'specials' that everyone watches and that people pay millions for a commercial in the special...) =/ and then when they assumed they couldn't make money outta 9/11 they switch to sars... and the blackout etc... ur right. news is evil...

in other news.. i read the news!

Yeah, it's really all you hear about now, the war, Iraq, im just sick of all of it, and those hostages who got killed, that made me sick to my stomache when i heard about it, so I find it much easier to just not watch the news at all, and go about my regular day:)

I often read the comics and the advice section. Sometimes, if a story interests me, I'll read it.

i usually don't watch the news on tv because they go back and forth between showing that hostage before he got executed and britney spears... why britney spears is on tv is beyond me.

The local newspaper is pathetic, so I don't read it. Only news-ish thing I watch on TV is the Daily Show, but I don't watch much TV, so.. I do read Slashdot, occasionally K5 or Wired. Mostly, though, I just don't care.

I don't read the paper...i find it boring...if something important happens i'll hear it from someone else, then if i care enough i'll see whats going on with the news. the only time i read the newspaper is when i have to for school assignments.

I use to read the newspaper everyday, And I still read it occasionaly, Depends if I find something else to do instead.
But I have to admit it is good to keep up with what is going on in the outside world. :)

my parents seem to be osessed with newspapers- every day my dad buys 3 different papers, and another local one weekly.

I read the local daily paper just about every day, and another regional paper (which isn't even really my region, but whatever) once in a while, and I'll glance through the weekly (they usually don't have anything decent lol). usually there isn't a whole lot that interests me, but at least I make the effort to look, right? :P plus I read the comics and browse the classifieds for cheap but decent sounding cars :P

plus for the last 4 years I've read the school paper, and this past year I pretty much had to read most of it, seeing as how I was co editor in chief :P

Dan, please don't tell me you read my newspaper, because it's quite possibly the worst writing I have ever read.

Whenever I tell people I'm a writing major they're like, "oh, like journalism?"
No, I am not a journalism major, journalism is quite different than what I'm attempting to do, and no I will not work for a newspaper. I hate journalism.

if by "my newspaper" you mean the major (well, relatively) newspaper of your general area that your parents' business happened to be featured in, then yes, that's the one I read once in a while :P

although did you happen to see I think her name is Beth Quinn's column from a few days ago? I should post a link in that thread about grammar and stuff, because it focused on misused apostrophes (but I'm too lazy) :P and actually I was too lazy to read the column, I just looked at the photos lol

yes, a horrible horrible newspaper it is- i mean, giving your parents (ok, your dad, I suppose) publicity like that :P

there were photos of signs with improperly used apostrophes and stuff :P like a sign for a "veteran's" something or other- the caption mentioned that it was for the area's one and only veteran...

EDIT: found the article, but it just figures that they don't have the images (what a horrible newspaper :P): http://www.recordonline.com/archive/2004/06/28/bethcolj.htm

Geez, what's with you mods and posting lately? Can't you get anything right the first time? *ducks*

Yeah, I read the papers. When I can get my hands on one. My reading at the moment has been reduced to strips used for papier mache.

I don't like touching newspapers alot because the ink gets all over my hands, so pretty much the only newspaper I read is my school's newspaper since I'm the photographer. Otherwise, I usually just run off with the comics, or if it's the winter, the sports section, so I can see what's going on in High School swimming, ie. competition.

anyone want to complain about newsprint? try helping with distribution of 2400 copies of a newspaper. by the end of the morning (after moving the bundles from someone's car to the adviser's classroom, counting out stacks of 20, and distributing them to classrooms), your hands end up nice and dark gray/almost black :P

HermioneLovegoo

I have no problem with the newsprint... unless I have sunscreen on. Once I was outside and set the newspaper down against my legs... which had sunscreen on them. They turned grayish-purplish-blackish.

Bah, you people read newspapers.. while i took the future into my own hands and i read the news at Yahoo!! MUAHAHHAHAHA. I swear you can find ANYTHING on yahoo.com... its amazing... The only things that i read on the newspaper is Oddly Enough (Odd news), the tech section, and comics. I hate reading the parts about iraq, saddam, terrorism, etc... And it gets annoying when they change the Terrorist Threat level to like Orange or Yellow and MSNBC has this little meter on the bottom of the screen that says TERROR THREAT: YELLOW. I hate the news on tv. it gets way too annoying...

Yeah, and then after they raise the terror threat then nothing ever happens.
