I just got through doing 3 dissections with my sister. Ick :p We had to dissect a clam, grasshopper and starfish. The grasshopper somehow lost its atennae and wings however, so we didn't get to see those.

Blech.

well, you don't have to dissect a grasshopper to see it's antennae and wings anyways... you can just go find one in a field somewhere and see them... =)

We almost dissected a pig fetus in middle school but the school didn't have enough money to supply enough for the whole grade... THANK GOD!

in fourth grade we dissected a squid. i thought it was fun :stickout: we used the spine as a pen and the ink pocket as ink [duh :D] and we wrote messages to each other. haha so it was cool except it smelled like fish.. bleh.

Ick! We had to dissect frogs in my biology class this year. I didn't take part in that activity, though the guys in the class seemed to enjoy it!

We dissected 2 worms and a frog last year. Next year I get to dissect a pig fetus, it's going to be cool :P

Dissecting stuff is soo gross and I can't stand the smell at all, it was horrible having to sit in my grade 9/10 science class when the seniors were dissecting in biology. Luckily, now the only thing I smell in science class is chemistry chemicals (lol) yay :P I'd rather do HTML in frontpage than take biology :P

Pig fetus?! AWESOME! My Biology class never did anything like that...

I'm always grossed out and feeling bad at first, but I get used to it. It does, however, smell gross if previous classes have done it before you walked in, but that's something else you get used to ;)

I had to dissect perch and a frog this year. The frog I had to do with my bare hands... I wasn't really grossed out by it, but dissection is not exactly my favorite thing to do

I had to dissect a frog in 10th grade. It was our final (instead of having a written test) so each of us got one, no partners. I was ok once I got past slicing its belly open, I had to have someone else to that for me I just couldn't take it. Except my frog was very pregnant and had a billion little black eggs in its belly so I couldn't see anythinggggg in order to identify it and my teacher had no mercy. It was awful.

For 11th grade, the frog was supposed to be our final, but with AP tests, he changed his mind the day of finals. After we did the squid (we got to write with their ink), he cooked them in an electric deep pan, and some of us ate them. I wasn't going to try it at first, but it smelled good so I did it anyway. The only thing I didn't like about it was the chewyness. One of the guys in my class warned us that it was good, but felt like you were chewing on a rubberband.

In 6th grade we got to dissect sharks and crabs. We also got to eat the crabs. (I remember in 5th grade when the 6th graders had Crab Day.. The smell of crabs was all over the school for a day or two...)

Our school board doesn't use formaldehyde anymore. A lot (most?) of schools stopped using it. There aren't any green clouds hovering around the bio labs anymore, and it's safer or something.
My frogs name was Jeane Claude.. He liked to do the robot dance.

There's a site you can do a virtual dissection of a frog and other animals. I don't think I should post it though :P

My old AP Biology teacher said the year before, they did the eye of some animal. I can't remember if it was a cow or not.

Ok...now I don't feel as grossed out about my dissections after hearing all these other stories!

We had to dissect worms and frogs in 8th grade. Someone punctured our frog's gallbladder, so we ended up with frog bile squirting everywhere....

I think my life science teacher liked dissections. The other teacher only had his students dissect a frog and worm. I had to dissect a squid, starfish, worm, perch, and a frog. Also an owl pellet, but that wasn't any animal so I don't consider it a dissection. We had to do the perch and frog in the same week. I didn't like that week too much...

Disecting is awesome. In biology this past year we disected a pig..whatever it's called. :D

Frogs were too much. Poor things. Of course, my sister has it bad: she has a pet frog now, and she's going to be in 8th grade, which means...yes, she gets to dissect amphibians...
