View Full Version : New Goldfish!
Magln Meow 06-24-2004, 04:01 AM I just recieved a beautiful goldfish! She's about two inches wide and is rather large for a goldfish. I named her Mango. In case you're wondering if I have a reason why I named her that, I do. I was with one of my friends the other day and we were enjoying our mango fruit popcicles. We were just outside the pet store finishing up the ice-cream... When we went inside my friend and I looked around for a fish. I took an hour deciding what to name her then I finally choose Mango! Now I can always look back on that day! :)
westernrider 06-24-2004, 04:04 AM aww... that is nice... I have a whole tank of fish.. but they are very bland... except my catfish... the best fish ever :P lol. I think the name Mango is very original... especially the history behind it. Good luck with your mango ;)
Magln Meow 06-24-2004, 04:14 AM Thanks, do you really have a catfish? You must have one huge fishtank!
ProfBelen 06-24-2004, 04:17 AM There are smaller breeds of catfish than wat you are thinking of Mag
Cool! I bought a betta a couple days ago. He is pure white execpt for some black dots near his gills, and his fins are medium sized. He looks really cool. Unfortunatly, he didn't eat any of his food today. :( I fear the end is near. I didn't even name my betta yet!
westernrider 06-24-2004, 04:20 AM haha... they do that sometimes... do not worry. Maybe he just doesn't like that food. Have you tried giving him bloodworms? try flakes? or thoes little black dot things? or he might just not be hungry ;)
 he is not a BIG catfish... just a small one. A fresh water regular ole catfish. He is probably the size of a beta.
ProfBelen 06-24-2004, 04:26 AM Yea I read some stuff on the internet about hos some days they wont eat and they go for long peroids of time without food. Ive tried flakes, and his usual food is the beads(dots?). I hope your right:) Ill try to shoo the dark cloud away -----====::::::: :cloud:
btw: the way my betta is about 4 inches long
lefty 06-24-2004, 04:38 AM I got a betta a couple months ago; I named him Amadeus :D
He, like, attacks food when I put it in the tank. I just use those flakey things. Then he looks at me all pathetic like I'm going to give him more. Sorry, buddy :P
jazzberry 06-24-2004, 04:41 AM ooh a goldfish! hehe I would have thought that maybe the colour reminded you of a mango haha, but I was wrong :( oh well lol.
I don't know anything about fish, except a lot of them are very pretty (I sound like a 5 year old lol)
ProfBelen 06-24-2004, 04:42 AM Yeah, he will come and nibble my finger if i stick it in the tank. He doesnt attack my food though, he just munches on it for a while. Sometimes he does this thing if I blow up my cheeks then he will inflate his face too. He does it if you scare him too.
westernrider 06-24-2004, 04:44 AM that is so cute... I wish my fish would copy the things I do.
ProfBelen 06-24-2004, 04:48 AM A pet store lady told me to try it. My brother says I look stupid when I do it, i wa trying it the other day and my brother walks into my room and im staring at the fish, blowing my face up. lol.
lefty 06-24-2004, 04:50 AM if I blow up my cheeks then he will inflate his face too. He does it if you scare him too.
Aw I have to try that! My sister has a betta, too, so I'll occasionally put their tanks next to each other. Can't do that for long, though :P
westernrider 06-24-2004, 04:51 AM my sister has a betta... but she doesn't take care of it well... so I take care of it... it makes me sad when she just neglects it. His name is thaeta... very weird name for a fish :P
ProfBelen 06-24-2004, 04:57 AM thaeta? sounds like a roman god or something.
@lefty: Yea its pretty funny, but my betta only does it when hes feeling good.
westernrider 06-24-2004, 05:01 AM haha... thaeta is some strange symbol/word in precal... or something along thoes lines... that means triangle... I think
....
....
or something along thoes lines... lol.
It was first going to be a class project... but no one in the class had taken care of it... so my sister takes it home to... not take care of it. The class named it that so that is why it has the odd name.
Dude128 06-24-2004, 05:12 AM theta is a Greek letter, that looks like a triangle. it's math-ish meaning is chang in... as in the slope formula [theta]y/[theta]x (the change in y over the change in x) :P
lefty 06-24-2004, 05:15 AM Delta is the triangle; theta is the circle with a line through it :P

I couldn't understand that stuff if I tried... I can not even spell it right :P well I haven't taken any higher courses yet... so I just herd it from my sister. Now I can go tell her that and act like I am smarter than her while she is 5 years older than me :P
Owlie42 06-24-2004, 05:20 AM Yay! Fishies! I only had one fish...a rather stupid goldfish named George. But he was very pretty, and very sweet...and very stupid...How many times he got stuck under his filter (within 3 minutes) I don't want to know.
shadow252 06-24-2004, 05:25 AM Aww, I use to have a betta fish named pooh.. I don't have him any more though..
Dude128 06-24-2004, 05:29 AM ok, completely disregard that last post of mine :P I was getting my Greek letters confused. lefty's right, it is delta in the slope formula and all that.
in math, theta is usually an unknown angle :P

 oh well, you sounded smart when you said it :D
and you are smart... lol

At least you got it right the second time! :)
lefty 06-24-2004, 04:13 PM Hey, that's what being in a couple Greek organizations will do to you, you start recognizing letters ;)

lefty 06-24-2004, 06:02 PM Yes, as soon as I logged off last night! He definitely blew up at me, it was so amusing.
