i right clicked and chose 'grid' and i also clicked on 'grid, guide, and snap properties' and changed the color of the grid where it says 'current image settings'. then after that is when i clicked on 'view' - 'preview in web browser' to see it but it didnt show up.

thats because the grid isnt part of your images, its just for you to use when your making an image.

you can't, not that grid...

What you do is open a really small image like 10x10 and then paint a border on only two sides, any will do....

then on your palette you go to the...oh not the solids, not the gradients..the other one. I'm so tired I can't think of the name.
You go there and click on the little image you just made and then you can flood fill your main image.

If you want the grid to kinda fade off on the side, you can FIRST make a selection WITH feathering and then flood fill. I hope that made sense.

Rosey's way works, and here are two other ways that you could try: if you like the way you had it orignally (with the grid for making images only), you can do that, take a screenshot, and then paste the screenshot in and crop. Also, you can create a new layer, go to effects >> texture effects >> tiles (might be a bit diff. for you; I use psp7). Use "square" as the tile shape, angularity=0, size=10, border=1, smoothness=0, depth=1, ambience=0, shininess=0, intensity=40, elevation=90, then OK. Then on your layer palette, fade the grid layer so that the image will show through. Hopefully that made some sense to you, haha.
