Does anyone know where there is a GOOD tutorial on making layouts in MS Paint? My dad won't let me download gimp or anything so umm yea. Almost anyone who is hosting wants their hostees to make their own layouts, so I kinda need to figure it out. Someone offered to host me (through pick-me) and stuff and the layout on my site is pre-made. However, when I go to her site, it says that I have to make my own layouts, unless one was given to me as a present or something. So if I can't make my own layouts, I don't want here to kick me off or anything. Any help would be appreciated.

That's the only one I found and it's somewhat hard to understand. Apparently according to the comments, I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Paint is really good for making pixels... so you could just make some pixels, arrange them nicely, and draw boxes where you want text to go.

There's tutorials here that show you how to do some interesting stuff in paint:

wow, that last one was really good! a bit basic tho... it seems there are no intermediate stuff on paint. umm, i only have paint as well, and it makes making layouts quite difficult. i think paint can do most things psp can do, it just takes a few YEARS longer...

just keep in consideration that saving files is hard. my homepage has a .jpg layout *shudders* because it has copmplicated colour mixes... if you don't miind the colour you wanted being a bit off, you can actually make it look nice by saving it as a .gif! this only work with things with simple colours though. (cartoons and pixel stuff --as opposed to photographs which turn out purple orange and grey). a french project i did in a website form has a pretty good appearance because it used simple colours. (sky blue, black, etc. so it didn't have the pesky fuzzyness at the sides)

next, making a layout can be fairly simple. as always, draw your layout on paper or onto paint in black and white for your future reference. then think about pictures and text. once you have all the pics, text you need, etc, place them on an outline that you have made on paint. don't worry that much about translucent text areas, they can be easily made with divs and even if they can only be seen on IE, the wide majority of people operate on IE. it really depends on what kind of layout... a personal page with i frames, a personal page that starts with a pic and the top and goes down, or one of those business-ish table layouts...

keep in mind blending is impossible and vectoring is extremely hard to do. there also is no feather (or whatever it's called) tool to remove the rough edges. the rough edges can be removed however by creating a colour (or a series of colours) in between the two colours on opposite sides of the edge (i hope that sentence wasn't confusing) and then placing the 'in-between' colours wherever it looks rough around the edges.

I am always in need of a person who wants a little layout when I'm not busy, so if you can get me at the right time, I can probably make you one. Try messaging me on AIM (my screename: TBO Brandon), and maybe I can help you out. Keep in mind I'm having finals this week, and then the following week I'll have a regents on Thursday, so I'll be studying up until then. So I'll be wicked busy, so try me on the Friday after next and you may get yourself a layout.
Cheers!
~Brandon
