View Full Version : Is this unfair or no?
I guess this is probably a bit like the thread about the French teacher, but it's different.
My entire class thinks my Spanish teacher is really really really (etc.) unfair. She generally treats each class quite differently depending on whether she likes the majority of students in that class. And my class (1st period) is her least favorite. (EVEN THOUGH she TOLD me I was very good at Spanish and asked me if I'd ever taken Spanish before and didn't believe me when I said no.)
Well, the other day she had us write our own Spanish version of some little kids' story (like I did the three little pigs) in the computer lab. She gave us three days in the lab, and I was absent the first day so I only had two days. Half the class didn't finish, and when we get to class the fourth day, after everyone was SUPPOSED to have finished, we ask her if we can go down there. So, like ANY time she doesn't want to answer a question, she stares at us for about 5 seconds, blinks, and looks away to go back to whatever was happening. Without saying a word. So half the class is getting failing grades for this project. BUT 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period all got to go back to the lab to finish!!!
Is that not unfair? Ugh, she makes me soooo mad! And even I didn't get to go, even though I was absent! They're supposed to give you extra days if you were sick. :grouch:
pinhead7987 05-08-2004, 12:53 AM ur right that is unfair if i was you and not telling u to do this but go and do i anywas since u were absent u were suppsoe to get an extra day anyways.
I could do that in my web class but I'm sooo behind in all of my classes. Maybe I'll just tell the principal. It might get her fired... *evil grin*
pinhead7987 05-08-2004, 12:57 AM thats a good way but if u have the program at home why dont u try it there and firing would tkae a bit to much time and effort so just stick with her till the end of the year and never ahve to see ehr again *hopefully*
Lol yeah. Well I can't do it at home. What I have at school is all saved on THEIR computers. :(
pinhead7987 05-08-2004, 01:13 AM best bet email it to yourself. tjhat might work if it isnt due now or something,.
Rosey 05-08-2004, 01:25 AM that is unfair. I think teachers should treat everyone the same.
pinhead7987 05-08-2004, 01:28 AM since this world isnt fair i think they will do this stuff just to ^^^^ people like stidents off so if they dont like u they have a reason to remove u which isnt fair in the first place.
salomeyasobko 05-08-2004, 01:29 AM that is unfair. I think teachers should treat everyone the same. me too! i think you should go in before school and have a chat with her. you should confront her about not being fair [it always works for me ] and ask her if she would be willing to give you extra time. as you've pointed out, she's obviously not nice enough to go up to you and ask if you need more time, so it'll be up to you to get that done. i liked elementary school, when teachers "took care of you" and were all *motherly* :o
pinhead7987 05-08-2004, 01:34 AM well that ahd to be motherly and when u go to higher grades they expect u to come to them since for msot people that are suppose to *mature* and *grow-up* at times that does happen and at other times it dont.
best bet email it to yourself. tjhat might work if it isnt due now or something,.
Can't email it. School has all the email things blocked. :(
I miss elementary too! :crying:
ham_let 05-08-2004, 03:33 AM I could do that in my web class but I'm sooo behind in all of my classes. Maybe I'll just tell the principal. It might get her fired... *evil grin*
haha yeah. do that! my dad said he got a university professor fired for giving hima weird mark.. =P
Guess what... she already graded them and I never printed it. So I'm probly gonna fail... :(
weird girl 05-11-2004, 10:15 PM Man, that's awful. Teachers should treat everyone the same. You probably should try nicely confronting her about this, and if that doesn't work go to the principal.
The whole class has tried nicely confronting her. Any time that happens she just stares, and then goes back to what she was doing like nothing ever happened!
And when I told my parents about the situation, all they said is "You'd better make sure you don't get a bad grade on that!" Like I have a CHOICE!!!
In class today we were discussing whether we should play a prank on her. One person suggested torching her wig. I think that's going just a tad too far, although it would be nice to get back at her somehow...
Owlie42 05-12-2004, 08:22 PM I feel your pain...my English teacher randomly took 10 points off a bunch of people's research papers. At least she corrected it....
I suggest you go talk to the principal. As a class.
Well, the other day we had to translate this article, by ourselves. But all the other classes got to do it with partners. When we asked her why, she ignored us like always, so we asked her again. "Well, you're gifted." Yeah right! Like 3 people in the WHOLE CLASS are even CLOSE to gifted. After a while, we ask her again. This time, "I told you, you're gifted!" "No, not all of us. This isn't a Pre AP class anyway." So we wait, and in a bit some kid asks, "Someone in 6th period said they got to do that translating thing in pairs." "Well, you guys have a talking problem. They're quiet." "You said we were gifted." "You are, but you have a talking problem." Etc. etc. etc.
Thank goodness there're only 9 school days left til summer.
HTMyaL 05-15-2004, 09:08 PM That is REALLY unfair. I have an unfair social studies teacher! Someone says that they had the answers all right (they checked on a paper someone got 100% on) and she gave her 50%. And she's done this more than once. It may be coincedence, but she plays favorites sort of. The POPULAR people, of course. My gifted teacher, though, is really nice. When she says "work in partners" she's okay if we work as a class or as threesomes, etc. But really, that really isn't fair of your teacher. I'm happy for you that school's almost out for you! (I have fourteen or fifteen days, so :P to me)
Lol, I'm glad you're happy for me. AND ALSO: thank goodness I'll be going to a new school next year and will never have to see the evil spanish teacher again!
Too bad about you having 14 or 15 days though... I hate school, lol!
Munchkin 05-17-2004, 03:42 AM what??!?! 9 days!!!! i don't get out until the end of JUNE! bah. </offtopic>
but that isn't fair, it makes you wonder why some teachers choose the profession of teaching.
Maybe they just like torturing innocent people. :)
Munchkin 05-17-2004, 10:33 PM A couple of years ago we had a teacher who hated kids, period. she loathed kids, she glared at us everytime she looked at us, and was sooo evil. *runs away* i have no clue why she started teaching. It's not like it pays especially well or anything, and she was a bad teacher anyways.
OMG! I got the award for spanish! OK, each teacher's allowed to give two awards... there are almost 1500 kids at my school, so getting one of these is rare, but senora garcia gave ME of all people the award! Prolly just cos she didn't want me to tell on her and get her fired... *evil grin* Ah well, now people walk around callin' me "Miss Spanish" and "Meeranda", making fun of senora's accent... (my name's Miranda;) )
Reverie 05-21-2004, 01:46 AM Ooo! ^^ Congrats! ;) A certificate to hang on your wall to remember the... experience? O.o;;; Oh well. Bad teachers come and go, but life goes on! ^_^ Let the good times roll!
:D Thank you all so much for your comments on the evil teacher! :) I only have to endure THREE MORE DAYS in the class! YAY!
thewatcher9989 05-22-2004, 05:23 AM i have a simple way to get around the schools filters...i made this thing in VB which gets around the schools filters. I hate vb. i prefer delphi.
Munchkin 05-26-2004, 03:51 AM lucky......our filters are so silly...it blocks out some sites because it thinks that it might have a swear word in it. 8-|
Dude128 05-26-2004, 04:12 AM ya know some of the things that are blocked on the Internet?
these categories:
-"Alternative religions"
-"Advocacy groups"
-"Web-based e-mail"
-"Website hosting" (it blocks all geocities sites, for example)
in general stuff we can't do:
-the Windows Help file is disabled
-IE is missing the File menu
-no Notepad
-no View Source in IE
it's relatively easy to access programs they don't really allow you to (open Borland C++, open the program [and to get to the hard drive, just type in C: because it's not shown in the drop down list], then click Run), but you can't really get around the filter, since everything is filtered before it even reaches the school (my district's setup is weird, and their Internet access and filtering is handled at BOCES)
Demented 05-26-2004, 09:01 PM No NOTEPAD? Thats just weird! Lol. There isn;t a file menu? I wonder why...:confusion.
