Hello!
I was wondering how people got .nu websites. I have seen them around, but I have never seen who their website provider is. If someone knows, can they please help?
Thanx!

most people with .nu's that I know register the name at www.nunames.nu, then buy hosting elsewhere. It's expensive though.

yeah, it's expensive because the .nu extension originally came from some small island's extension or something....been a while since I read that, but they let people use .nu for free for a short amount of time, then started charging.

Someone bought the rights to the .nu extention...so unlike with .coms and .orgs which anyone can sell (making the price lower due to competition) the people who sell .nus can sell them for as much as they want because if someone really wants a .nu they have no choice but to pay it.

i'm pretty sure every country has its own extension...
canada= .ca
united states= .us
united kingdom= .uk
philippines= .ph
korea= .kr
japan= .jp
the list goes on...
tokelau= .tk
niue= .nu
niue and tokelau are small islands in the south pacific that aren't really countries. their owned by new zealand. still, these extensions give the island some extra income. tokelau offers free domains, hoping that larger companies will buy domains instead of getting free ones. (these of course will not have ads) maybe tokelau will follow niue in charging for domains. hope that helps.

there's http://virtue.nu, but unless you're okay with tons of ads, they aren't the best server ever :P I used to use them but....

well, all the sites from nea zealand that I know have the .nz extension... but as much as I know these have to be approved by the country befor leeting them go onto the net because they see it like they represent their country.
