View Full Version : "Fun" in KY
SizzZzlinhair 04-19-2004, 11:24 PM Well, this past weekend I got back from my trip to Kentucky. We looked at houses and schools.. I have some stories from the schools, they were fun. But I was kind of bummed the whole trip because of moving and everything, and it seemed like all we talked about was ...buying houses. Sigh.
I had been trying to get used to Cinncinati, which would be really close to where I'll be living (It's like 15 mins cause I'll be living in Northern Kentucky), but I just kept thinking about how much I'm going to miss New York City, the best city in the world :). It's been tough lately.. I might not be on much :/ I've missed you guys though.
There are some positive sides though- I'll be visiting frequently, if I have anything to do with it! My mom said that I could fly alone for some weekends and stuff, and I'll definitely be there during important events going on for my friends :) I guess what I'm trying to say is that It'll be hard to adjust. But I guess I will, over time.
Woo, it felt good to get that out =) Thanks for listening, if you could stay awake long enough :P </moving rant>
Cherchezlafemme 04-19-2004, 11:30 PM Awww it stinks moving sometimes but we all have to get used to the loss. I move a lot since my dad is in the military so I know how you feel :)
You'll make lots of new friends i'm sure of it ;)
kicker91 04-20-2004, 01:17 AM Hmm? I thought you were moving to Florida. e_e;

Look on the bright size, Sizz. You probably won't be any more than 40 or so miles away from me! (not that that's necessarily a good thing...:hehe: )
salomeyasobko 04-20-2004, 01:36 AM aww yes moving stinks :( but i'm sure you'll get situated and make lotsa new friends in no time! :)
why are you moving, anyway? [i'm a curious child :hehe:]
Owlie42 04-20-2004, 01:47 AM Yes, moving does suck. Hope you get used to things here/there. You see, it's kinda...I don't want to say 'uncultured', but...it's not NYC. (There's an awesome aquarium just across the river from Downtown Cincy. They've got very entertaining penguins) But it's actually pretty cool 'round here. We're really friendly, so you won't have too much of a problem making friends. ^_^
Dude128 04-20-2004, 04:02 AM We're really friendly
well if you're used to NYC, anyplace you go the people will be more friendly :P
I just visited Pennsylvania this weekend, and I immediately remembered the fact that as soon as you get across the NY border, people are so much friendlier lol
kicker91 04-20-2004, 04:05 AM NYC stereotypes are so funny. XD
Dude128 04-20-2004, 04:30 AM I wasn't saying it's just NYC, but if someone is used to a city in New York State (any one), people will be friendlier everywhere else. this is based purely on observation- people in NY are rude as heck :P
when we were in Pittsburgh, we heard a lot of horns, and we thought people were being rude, until we realised that a lot of them were actually blowing their horn because they were letting people in and stuff. in NY when you hear a horn it's usually because someone is annoying someone else :P
SSPrincess 04-20-2004, 04:31 AM Look on the bright size, Sizz. You probably won't be any more than 40 or so miles away from me! (not that that's necessarily a good thing...:hehe: )I think she's trying to escape from the dreaded Fish Stalker! That's the real reason for the move!
*cackles evily*
I've never moved to another house, however I've changed schools 5 times which is pretty annoying, because after making friends, I'd loose them by going to a new school. :( Ah well. I'm sure you'll have a grand ol' time in KY. Are you going to live anywhere near where they have the Kentucky Derby by any chance?
Oh and for the record, I thought this thread was about being funky when I looked at the title...
Marianne 04-20-2004, 08:35 AM sorry to hear you have to move, Shannon :(
On the bright side: you don't have to fly an airplane to come to LEIA!
b.t.w., when your mum said you can fly on your own, to see your friends, did she mean flying as in being in the cockpit and holding the steering handles again? :)
adrielle 04-20-2004, 09:42 AM I know how you feeeel...I'll be moving soon:( And this isn't as bad as moving state, I'm moving country:sad:

What Country Are You Moving To? Will You Still Get On? *AAAAAHHHH!!!* MY 'FRIENDS' ARE MOVING AWAY FROM ME!!!!
That's Pretty Sad, SizzZzzlinhair, But At Least You Can Get On SOMETIMES...
I've Lived In The Same House All My Life. I'm Happy ;)

If she's moving somewhere about 15 minutes from downtown Cincy, it's unlikely-I under the impression that it was held further south.
Dude128 04-20-2004, 07:49 PM isn't the Kentucky Derby held in Lexington? that's where my aunt lives, and I've been there twice (man, people in the south are so much friendlier than here in NY... :P)
tonyabz1 04-21-2004, 12:24 AM HEY! I dunno u and u dunno me but i live in northern kentucky also! If u ever need anything u can contact me!

I have no idea. But I suppose that Lexington isn't that far away from downtown cincy...I don't remember, only been there once. :D

Lol of course I'll find a way to get on;) Cybercafes uh huh. Moooving to...Malaysia=/. Dad got transferred there......
donnamarie 04-21-2004, 05:12 PM speaking of moving, I have lived in about 10 houses long term, and several houses for several days at a time(on deputation, don't know what that is, write me a private message)
SizzZzlinhair 04-24-2004, 05:53 PM Erioc- my dad got transferred, so he's working in Cincinnati more
Salome- moving cause of my dad's job :/
Owlie- I know, I wanted to go in there.. we ate at the Fish Market retaurant that's right across from it one night.. kind of ironic that a place where they're trying to SAVE the animals is right across from a place where they're EATING them..
Dan- You're right.. it kind of scares me how nice people are down there :P I go down to see my sister at college sometimes, and strangers are always saying hi to me and stuff.. that'll take some getting used to.
As for the Kentucky derby.. I saw signs for Lexington on the highway and it doesn't seem TOO far away from where I'm going to live.. I'm probably wrong though :P There's a sign that has Lexington and Louisville on it that I remember passing.. I'll have to ask how far away it is though.
And Adrielle.. oh my goodness, Malaysia?! I'm going to miss you.. you have to promise to be on as often as you can. =(
Imaseagull 04-25-2004, 02:39 AM I compeltey understand where your coming from... we were in the midst of moving to omaha NE this past month... (my dad is all ready down their, for his new job) However we didnt think it was in our best interest to move again, and my dad just happened to get a new job oppurtunity, where we live know (in chicago...) As much as i like it here, after visiting, i found it too had many things i liked, that i dont have here!
After telling all my friends i was moving, meeting new people down there (and all ready becoming "close to them", etc.) we found out we wernt moving again. Believe me, its almost as hard to take back the fact that you arnt moving again, as it is actually moving! All in all, as much as i liked it down there, im still more happy here!

I had a good laugh the first time I went down there about the aquarium-restaurant thing. Maybe THAT'S what they do with all the dead fish from the aquarium  ...and the poor octopus :(
SizzZzlinhair 04-25-2004, 07:23 PM
Yuck, I had a hard time ordering there because I don't like seafood xD It was my parent's idea.
Owlie42 04-26-2004, 12:57 AM I hate it too. Nasty stuff. I make a point of not eating anything out of the ocean.
starlet 09-03-2005, 03:32 AM year...old....thread.
