hey...my best friend moved 2000 miles away last september, and im having a really hard time making new friends...has anyone else's best friend ever moved away? just curious...thanks...

Aw, I'm sorry about that :( Yeah, a lot of my friends have moved away. It's really sad. Maybe you're looking for someone to be like your friend was. You gotta keep in mind that no one will be just like them. Something to keep in mind.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend =/ Many of my friends have moved away, so I can identify with how you feel. Most of my closest friends in elementary moved away and I don't even know where. I lost a very close friend of mine in the third grade and, even though he's been gone for so long, I still miss him. Then one of my other friends moved to another city, which isn't that bad, but we hardly get to see her anymore since our schedules are so busy. And finally, my Italian friend. She was a foreign exchange student and she and I became best buddies so fast. Even though she made a lot of friends, she was still unhappy in America because she couldn't adjust to the new lifestyle with her host parents. Because of this, she decided to go back to Italy. I miss her so much, but we still e-mail, write, and call each other. I know it's hard being away from someone so close to you and you'll make new friends eventually. Just open yourself to different oppurtunities and allow yourself to have fun. It's going to be difficult to adjust for a while, but you'll get used to it and eventually be yourself again. If you can be yourself, then you'll have no trouble making new friends.

When I was in second grade my two best friends (brother and sister) moved away; it was only forty-five minutes into the next state but we just never saw each other again. Before my freshman year of highschool I had another close friend move away...about a forty minute drive as well. It sucks because I talk to her less and less and I'm afraid we're going to lose contact all together. :\

I've never had that happen to me.....I guess I'm pretty lucky!

i have had a couple friends move away.. and then i moved. lol.. and now i'm about to move again.. but i'm pretty happy cause it might be up north :D and i'll be able to see enough snow to make an actual SNOWMAN! ahh! :hehe: lol but besides that.. most of my friends have changed for the worst.. like my school says it a Christian private school.. yet more then half the students in just the high school arent and are basically un-Christianly as possible. but.. i hope we do move.. i like meetin new people

Wowzers!!! I have NEVER moved in my life!??!??! And.....I have never been in a place without enough snow to make a snowman......I should travel more!!! (I get tonnes of snow....cuz I live in Canada!!! WAHOOOOO!!!!!!)

that's not cool that your friend moved away :(. I've had that happen to one of my best friends...named Madison. She lives in Wyoming, I live in Minnesota. We still write, but I know that it's not the same thing... And I may have to face the predicament of moving away from some of my new best friends... Hopefully not... Having a "long-distance" friendship with someone sucks, but you'll live through it. Maybe someday you can visit her!

Yupp, i have... My best freind for 7 years and she moved to hawaii and forgot bout me...... i live im maryland btw, so it was far.... Then to make it worse, she came back to visit and ditched me to hang out with this guy she met at the mall....

yeah, its was really hard to let her go, but we are still best friends, but its so hard when u never get to see ur best friend anymore...ya know?

thanks for all the replies, everyone! :) I appreciate it... Im trying to get involved in a bunch of extra-curricular activities, but im still not really meeting anyone...any ideas for talking to new people? Im always tongue twisted...lol

I've lost alot really good friends. The worst thing lately is that after middle school I went to a totally different school than all of my friends.it really bites...i guess i kinda know how you feel...

When I was 10 I met my best friend and a few years later I moved to Canada and then a year later, she moved to Canada too! I left a year later to move yet again but you know what? I'm 27 and we're still best friends! We've written letters and then with the joys of the internet we email which is cool because we can hear from each other more often. With the letters it was once every few weeks only.

So even if you guys are young, you can still stay best friends through a lot.

I also have had the other happen, sometimes friendships drift away. Hopefully that won't happen to you and your friend :)

Yes. One of my closest friends moved March 1st. And unfortunately, my group of friends will habe to experience that feeling again this summer cause that's when I'm moving :/ Now I feel like my friend that moved and I are slowly growing really far apart. And it sucks.

She wasn't my best friend, and she didn't move far, just to another suburb, but that meant she ended up in a different school district. I last spoke to her in Novemberish of 2002...

:hug: I know exactly how you feel. my best friend moved more than 2000 miles though :P It's hard, but I may get to see har in october, MAYBE. She is my only friend, and now I'm stuck eating lunch alone.... it's hard, because she moves so much. you and I can cry together :crying: But I IM her lots, and am able to call her after 7 (though it's 10 pm there) and she's a mod on my forum. It's hard, but it get's easier :P :hug:

i hate it when your friend moves away...i've known my best friend since we were both two, we grew up together, our houses are side by side...people sometimes think we're twins or siblings, that's how close we are!! but now he's moving away :crying: i won't be able to walk across the street to his house anymore.....we will have to be driven to each others....i cried for a week when i found out he was moving.....he leaves the end of may :crying:

yeah, because of the short notice, she had to leave most of her stuff in a storage unit because she didn't have time to pack everything up... (the storage unit is here in california)
