Every time I look for a free server, it's either down, deleted, or charging becuase of the amount of money it costs to pay for al these extras, if other people aren't. I finally found one that I have signed up with, and it's ok, but I don't think it will be around for long. With all the new features and things they offer, they're either going to have to disable free accounts, or shut down. Just my luck. Lol :rolleyes:

I don't understand why domain names arent free for people to use. Sure people get money off of it, but ever since I was on the internet people have always had to pay for one thing or another.

I really can't find any free servers at all.. especially ones without really bad, big ads. brinkster.com started charging, and that's where I had my website. I don't have a job---so I really can't pay for a domain or anything...

I play petz and have a petz website that I keep having to close down and open back up.
www.geocities.com is the best free server I've found so far. It doesn't have too many ads, and you can close them.

Yeah most free websites have a downsides to them. However, if you look around you can find a cheap hosting company that won't strain your wallet. I had a hosting plan with Netrillium that only costs me $6.50 a month, but I just recently made a down grade to the $4.50 a month plan cause I didn't need that much space. My domain name only cost $7.50 and I ended up buying 2. :lol: If you are underage do you get an allowance? Cause a few bucks a month to have your own space and domain is totally worth it.

I have my own server on my computer. It has php,mysql and alot more other things. I would start a free hosting with everything, but I have to wait until i can buy a dedicated server.But if you guys want good ad free hosting, whm-host and dymihost are definately best.

It's like everything else, very hard to find something that's free that works wonderful. That's the way it is for all aspects of life.

There are a lot of other things to complain about other than having a free domain name. Like for example, the richer countries have the ability to feed the poorer ones but won't, we just throw the food away...

Most of the servers that are "free" take on too many people and then they can't handle the amount of people, bandwith, etc and they have to shut down. You can't get it all for free.

I know I've been trying to look for one for ages... most require forum posting, a site for them to review, or has 'registration closed.'

I rememeber one that died 2 weeks after I joined... and it only hosted like 4-10 people!

Yea, I think I might want to get hosted some day, but I need a website in most cases to show people. I have my website at www.mywebhome.ca it has PHP MySQL and all that good stuff, but I'm not sure how long it will last becuase of it. It's also add free.. I think :confusion

I used to use geocities. The little banner at the top annoyed me so much I just had to move. :lol:
