What is your favorite browser? I was always a die hard IE person. I started using Mozilla recently and am liking it more each day :)

I chose IE, cause it's my favorite, but I also really like Mozilla Firefox. It's kind of buggy though. I can't wait til they come out with a non-buggy version

Well, the security leaks should be enough proof... and backdoors... oh yeah did I mention it's made by Microsoft? :P

I use IE. It's funny how everything I use/am I can laugh at XD. I have a Compaq, but no it's my Comcrap. I use things made by Microsoft (like IE) and say eww MS.

Firefox :D I just recently started using it, and now I very rarely use IE. I like the tabs too much to go back :P And also how you can customize it in terms of themes, no popups, block ads from being displayed, and whatever else you can customise with it :P

i dont know why everyone puts down things made by microsoft.

is it because they are successful and used like in 75% of people? yes.

people are jealous.

they say its because they are "buggy", and i have to admit, i have over 50 security patches installed on my computer/server, but i stick with em 100%

so thats why i use:
IE 6

i use IE because i'm just used to it :P i used mozilla for a while but i was too lazy to move all my links/favorites into there, so i just went back to IE. oh and plus, my website was pretty messed up in mozilla and, although rosey helped me a lot [thanks!!!!!], it still bugged me :D [so rather than fixing the problem i ran away from it ;)]

I use to hate Netscape a lot, but Ive gotten use to it now. I love the tab thing. I dont have to have all these windows open; I can use the tab thing. I also like Netscape's pop up blocker. :P

I use IE. I tried Mozilla a while back but i didn't like it. It took so much effort compared to IE to get to my favourites menu which annoyed me and so did those tabs.. i didn't like them at all. In Mozilla you also can't scroll iframes and it doesn't support css and takes longer than IE to start so i stopped using it. I also tried Opera, i liked it more than Mozilla but i stopped using it forgot why though.

I use IE 6.0 :) I like it. :) I don't like Netscape. I can't stand it. Probably because I don't know how to use it

Opera scares me :confusion. I think it'd be better without the ads though.

My Opera doesn't have ads. ;) It is much better without them.

The number of issues I've had with my computer has decreased since switching from IE; that's why I prefer something else. :P

Jesus. Are you sure you're thinking of the right browser?

(Disclaimer: I swear I'm not a fanatic or anything, just bored. ph33r.)

I'm not going to comment on the Favorites menu thing (though I don't see what's so hard about going to the Bookmarks menu; it seems the same level of difficulty to me), or the tabs (personal preference, I completely understand). But support? You've got to be kidding.

I have no idea what you mean about not being able to scroll iframes. I've used both Firefox and the Mozilla suite (an old version at that; I'm too lazy to update it unless it's something really huge) and both handle iframes just fine.

CSS standards are actually supported better in Mozilla than IE. No browser completely supports CSS2, but IE supports it the absolute least of any other. If you're referring to scrollbar coloring and text filters and stuff like that, then you should realize that those are not standards-compliant elements. IE is not a standards-compliant browser. It adds its own accepted codes. That's why no one else supports that stuff. It's like Netscape's horrible curse upon humanity, the <blink> tag. If you want a comparison chart, this (http://www.quirksmode.org/css/contents.html) looks decent (at a cursory glance, anyway).

For what it's worth, I mostly use Firefox right now. I think it's pretty good for the paranoid - no glaring security problems like IE, easy to delete history/cache/cookies/etc in one fell swoop, you can go into about:config for massive customization (i.e. I like to keep the sendRefererHeader option off, and setting the UA string to something weird is always amusing, though there are good plugins for that).

I used to use IE, but it got all buggy from a file I downloaded, and now I can't use it anymore unless I want to crap up my computer more. Now I use Firefox, and no matter what I download I haven't gotten a virus yet. Plus, I love the tabular browsing and downloads manager. People who don't like it haven't used it. :P

zetsubou You have your opinion, they have theirs. Just leave it :)

I hate opera, i hate netscape, i hate basically every other browser then IE :P but beside that, i don't really care about it. As long as i can get on the net i'm happy :) opera doesn't let me scroll with a mousewheel either... weird stuff :P

Sorry, I didn't mean to rant.. I have a tendency for unnecessary verbosity... (Plus an excessive amount of free time.)

But... I didn't attack her opinion. I didn't mean to say "you don't like Mozilla?? OMG```BBQ your wrong Mozilla is teh awesoem!!!!!11!!1" (and I am truly terribly sorry if that's how it's being [mis]interpreted), I really just meant to correct factually wrong information regarding CSS support. Any other points addressed were simply for completion's sake.

Zetsubou, i'm not sure if it was iframes maybe it's divs that didn't scroll for me. I also forgot to mention that many sites i visit daily came up messed up and i couldn't access some sites that i know exist on that browser.. :|

Scrolling div problems I can see, though I'd sooner blame webmasters than Mozilla. People who design in IE (which is very lenient about minor code errors) often have no idea when their code doesn't work in stricter browsers (or they just don't care, which is disturbingly common). I'd say the divs and the messed up sites you mentioned are probably examples of this. As for not being able to access the sites at all... I've no idea why that would happen, but I think it happened to me too (it had to be Penny Arcade, of all places...). It fixed itself after about a week, so I didn't really think about it. Very weird.

I chose Mozilla, because of all the features IE doesn't have. The one thing I don't like is some JavaScripts don't work.... but I'll get over it ;)

Rosey
04-17-2004, 04:53 AM
The good javascripts would work in both :P
I like Netscape because of the tabular, the popup blocker. I really really like the tabular, I hate having a gazillion windows open.

I've said it before, on some computer, IE works better, on others it's netscape...depends.

No that's not what's going through my head. I was programming and using my computer heavy in the golden ages of 3.1 and 9x. If you new how much they crashed to the point where you wanted to shoot them, that's bad. They may have gotten better, but try Linux or Unix. Their worst version will be better than Windows's best. And don't go and say why isn't it big or anything. Answer, it is, just among the programmers and system admins who realize it's worth. It's kinda funny. My mac had problems until they switched their OS to a Unix kernel.
