ok, well basically after alot of reading up and hours trying to figure it out myself in psp, I've came to the conclusion, I'm badly in need of help. I really hope someone can help me... :)

ok, well I have a few problems with psp 8....

1) I want my text to be transparent, my friend told me, that I need to use the multiply blend option, and when I do, it looks like its transparent, but then as soon as I add it to the blend or whatever, it goes white....which isnt what I want at all. I used to apply text straight to my graphic, but now I use a plain white canvas or whatever and then copy and apply but its still not helping me....

2) I dont know how to control the tranparency either, like when I'm using transparency in graphics, I can just about control it but with text I have no clue how. how do you get to choose how transparent you want youre text? do you promote to another layer or something? then go to properties and then mess with the optinacy, cause when I do this with text tho, it goes weird.

3) I also want a black border around the transparent text, and I want to be able to do it for non-transparent text too, but I cant work that out either...
well I can if i'm using black text and I want a white border (non-transparent though), I expand by a pixel, but when I want white text and a black border, the expand keeps it white, when it needs to be black

my friend told me to use a black canvas and then do it, and it would go black, but when I did that, the white kinda merged with the black and the whole thing looked like drippy paint, it wasnt a strong black border it was kinda light in places and weird, then when I added it, it went all blurry.

I have no clue how to achieve one with transparent text.

4) I saw some graphics where the text is like, rainbow of colour, well its probably a gradient, but how do I make text have that effect?....heres an example so you know what I mean, cause if I know how to do that, I should be able to apply the same process to making it any colour right?...

5) I noticed people do a kinda 'glow' around their text, how do you achieve that? (also how do you control how bright etc you want it)...that reminds me, how do you do that for images too, I see people do that with pictures too, and I'm clueless as to how you are meant to...

I would be SO grateful if someone could help me.

thank-you in advance!!!

well, i'll help you as much as i can lol

1.for the transparent text, just go to layers change the opacity and merge.

2. to control the transparency do the same with the text. what i do is use the selection tool and highlight what i want to be transparent, use the fill tool and fill it in white, then change the opacity then merge. And it's 100% easier to change the opacity using the layer palette instead of properties.

3. all i do is set the stroke to one and set the colors black than white black for the outline white for the inside. if you want just the inside transparent click for the second color box the circle with the line through it.

4. what they did was had the text transparent and what your seeing inside is the picture. if you want an effect like that without the picture use gradient with a 92 degree angle and 0 repeats. click edit to customize it.

5. for the glow effect im not 100% sure. But for ur second question use the opacity in the layer palette also.

thank-you for replying.... :)

I got lost though...I think I get the first answer, for the second though, when I drew a box with the selection tool, and filled in with white, it covered the whole box, I'd made, with the text inside, so when I change the optimacy it changes the transparency of the box and not the text. how do I just highlight the text with it or what am I doing wrong?...:(

also, the third point, I dont understand. I got the stroke thing, and got completely confused after that. I need more detail or help...

I am lost on the fourth too, so I fill in a image with a gradient, then how do I apply that to the text?, like over the text and then use the optimacy?...oh I am so lost....:crying:

and for the 5th, I am still fiddling around seeing if I can work that out, but thats not looking good either....

I think I need detailed instructions or something, can I have some more help? pretty please....

lol ill try to explain it better

when you draw the box copy it and paste it as a new layer. then align it with the picture and it should work. for the text just make the text and click ok so that the text is just there then use the layer palette opacity. the text has its own layer.

for the second question, what i ment was the color boxes on the right in the materials palette. and the circle with the line through it.

for the forth all you do is set the gradient then just do the text. simple as that.

fifth one, you get the effect that you want for a glowing look, brightness and contrast is good or blur. Then you can just mess around with the settings.

If you need anything else, just lmk :)
