well i really like the way there is a border kinda thing and the small pixel fonts. im using Paint Shop Pro 8 and i have downloaded some pixel fonts but they dont seem to work. can someone give me a guide on how to make these kinda avatars and how to use pixel fonts and make borders like that?
thanks so much!

It looks like they used Adobe Photoshop/ImageReady not PSP for these borders :confusion.
You can try MS Paint for borders though. It may be not as easy but still good enough. (I use it in most of my images ;) )

For the border around the fonts make a new transparent image and fill it with the colour you want as a border. Then click the text tool and write what you want in the pixel font to be bordered making sure Antialias and Floating is selected, also make sure you have no colour in the stroke, just the Fill then click ok. Go to selections, modify, expand, 1 pixel and click ok. The text will now have a border around it, you could go to edit, copy and then paste it onto your icon to position it where you'd like.
(I did that using psp7 but psp8 is very similiar so you should be able to do it)

How I do it is I Put the font where I want it, save it, and then open it in Paint(should be on your computer unless you have a MAC or something) and then zoom in, and outline it with black^^

Open new image
Fill in the image with a color with the floodfill tool
go to the text tool, type some text
go to "selections > from vector object" now the text should be only selected
go to "selections > modify > expand" and give an amount of pixels to expand
then go to "edit > copy merged". You need to do this, becuaes you have two layers. If you only copy then you only will copy the text, and not the color that is on the background color.
then go to your original image and hit ctrl + v
Done :)
for text, that font looks best at size 6 :)
