Well, aside from my pretty much non-existant visitor page, all that is really left to add to my site is a blog. Is there any blog (with comment) tool that can be used on geocities? Thanks!

View Full Version : I need a blog horse*chica 03-14-2004, 03:59 AM Well, aside from my pretty much non-existant visitor page, all that is really left to add to my site is a blog. Is there any blog (with comment) tool that can be used on geocities? Thanks! kicker91 03-14-2004, 04:03 AM http://blogger.com kittycat 03-14-2004, 04:13 AM Actually even blogger can't be used on geocities (US) since it needs FTP :P IF you aren't hosted on the US version then you could use blogger. You won't find any blogging tool that comes with comments, but there are separate sites were you can sign up to have comments. Since geocities doesn't allow FTP or any server side languages, you may have to use something like diaryland.com, have an iframe frame on your site, and link to the blog page in there. Or just do it all manually. kicker91 03-14-2004, 04:44 AM Doesn't uk.geocities.com have FTP? EDIT I didn't realize you said that, lol. Delete this pls. horse*chica 03-14-2004, 05:11 AM Bah...stupid geocities. lol. I suppose I'm stuck with doing it manually, then. Could I still use a comment system like haloscan (I think that's what it is, I've never really looked into it much)? salomeyasobko 03-14-2004, 05:27 AM yep, i use haloscan and find it very nice :D but.. even if you don't live in the UK, you can still sign up with geocities UK, right? legally but i know many americans who have done that]. if it's not legal, dont do it :) horse*chica 03-14-2004, 05:51 AM Ah, that's great to hear. Of course, I would rather not blog manually, but as long as I have something where people can comment, it's fine :D Thanks! salomeyasobko 03-14-2004, 05:57 AM wooohooo geocities UK for americans is not illegal! i'm using it now! weeee so, now you can sign up w/ greymatter or blogger and still have geocities! http://uk.geocities.com salomeyasobko 03-14-2004, 06:28 AM maybe greymatter doesn't work with geocities UK :crying: back to my boring ol' manual blog then [i dont like blogger because i'm very picky about banner ads :D] horse*chica 03-14-2004, 01:39 PM So I could use the UK version? Spiff. I've already completed my site on regular geocities though, and I'm too lazy to move it completely now, lol. That's handy to know, though. I wonder why the UK version allows FTP, and the US version doesn't...hmm. kicker91 03-14-2004, 02:38 PM Yeah, geocities doesn't allow CGI... starlet 03-14-2004, 03:06 PM You could always get a uk.geo account for your blog and link to it in an iframe like kittycat suggested above... udontnome 03-14-2004, 03:16 PM i dont know what type of site your looking for, but i just joined diary-x and its fab! they give you as much space as you want and the forums are great! horse*chica 03-15-2004, 01:23 AM I didn't even think about that Starlet...when I read kittycat's post, I just thought about a journal such as LJ, etc and link it (which I don't really want to do, lol). But getting a uk account to use blogger and link it is a good idea, I might use that as a last resort, or if I get sick of manually blogging :D salomeyasobko 03-15-2004, 01:26 AM you know, for my uk.geocities site, i just copied the HTML code of my index.html page and pasted it in to the uk.geocities index.html page.. it was really easy :D then i uploaded the files i needed, which takes like 1 minute tops. |
