I was wondering how can I make custom gradients, patterns, and where's the line tool in psp8? And how can i make a bground like this http://www.cristine.one-in-a-million.net/ I know she used psp cuz if u click "site" you see her desktop and it got the psp icons lol or like this http://www.one-in-a-million.net/so-hypnotiq/SDipitlow.htm Everytime I try making graphics like that i can never get it. Can some one tell me what is it that they probably use in psp that i can do? :)

custom gradients: http://www.udraw2.com/sp/psppower/simplegradientsTwo.html or http://www.digitalartresources.com//PSP/ArtResources/Tutorials/PSP8/Gradient/editgradient.htm
i know that for the background of the second er.. background [:D], she did hue & saturation or something like that and made the part with the swirls orangish/yellowish, and then made it brighter using brightness and contrast.. but that's about all i can figure out from that picture. if confuses me, sorry

line tool is the pen tool, almost the last icon in your menu (the pen)

I usually make a square of the pattern and save as a .pspimage into the Patterns folder for PSP8. That's how I figured out how to make custom patterns.

Create a new image, put your pattern in it, then save. When you have the options of saving, choose a .pspimage. The folder you save it in should be the Patterns directory for Paint Shop Pro 8. My Patterns folder is found at C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 8\Patterns, though it may be different for you.
Sorry for not being so clear. [I'm not always so good at explaining things. Sorry if this is still unclear.]
