Does anyone else get Migraines with Aura? I need someone to share the pain with cos its so hard to describe what Aura is...someone really needs to know what it is to be able to understand lol

I looked it up earlier and came across a picture that actually does show what i see when i get it quite well, which is a bit freaky...i dont like looking at it cos it makes me feel ill lol

and this is the medical description

Visual auras are the most common. They often appear in one visual field as a moving, expanding bright, curved, saw-tooth line with obscured vsion in its wake. Some of these figures are strikingly colorful, whereas others are dull and monochromatic. Some bright colored figures have shapes that are not zig-zag lines. Visual auras consisting of absent or blurred vision in one or a part of one visual field are also common. Spreading numbness, in one side of the face or upper limb, or both, is the next most common aura. Mild hemiparesis and speech disturbances (dysphasia) are not rare.

Wow, I never knew anyone else who got migraines with aura. I get migraines all the time, some of them aura. I get them in zigzag lines or a dotted oval in my centre field of vision. I miss so much school just because of migraines. :\

What really sucks is that my grandmother and her sister got constant migraines as well, and ended up developing brain tumors when they were older. I sure hope that doesn't happen to me.

I get migraines, occasionally I get them with an aura, but not usually. And when I have the aura, it doesn't last long.

I've been getting migraines since I was 8, but only 3 times with aura, once when I was 13 or 14, after swimming in polluted water (I assume that's the connection) and twice when I was 28, after drinking lots of cola, so those were caffeine induced.
Other than those, I have them without aura - but they're bad enough.
I now know to go to bed on time, never go out without sunglasses on a bright day, and to stay away from caffeine.
The other factor that triggers it is major, MAJOR stress, but that doesn't happen too often.
So between knowing what not to do and a bit of luck living a somewhat stressless life, I only get migraines a couple of times per year.
My mum had the aura ones all her life, hers were definitely connected to hormones so there was nothing she could do to prevent them.
Migraines are evil.

I never used to get migraines, nevermind ones with aura...its just in the last year and a half ive started getting them and i have no idea why...im not under any stress, havnt had any huge changes in lifestyle and i cant seem to find anything that triggers them, they just come when they feel like it, totally out of the blue...so its not even like i can work out how to stop them :(

I still have it now, 20 hours after it started...its not full on anymore and not with the aura...but still there :( I so hope itll be gone after a good nights kip!

Woah... I think I've had a mild form of that. I wonder if I should get medicine?... My friend is on medicine, but it made her lose weight, a LOT of weight, and now she's at like 100 lbs... Medical disorders can be so scary sometimes...

I often get migraines and they usual last for hours. My vision sometimes goes crazy. It gets colored spots like if you look at the sun or a bright light then look away. I don't know how else to discribe it. A few times I couldn't see at all.

Whoa, you might want to get a CT scan if the migraines keep up. It's odd for them to all of a sudden just start up like that. I had a CT scan done a couple years ago...they didn't find anything, but it was still cool to look at pictures of my brain. :P

If you can't see for a few minutes, you get really hot, and you get really dizzy, what's that considered? That's happened to me a few times before... Sometimes I see little spots, like stars, or a weird brownish pattern, but I can't see other than that... It's really weird. Does anyone know if that counts as an aura?...

edit - Oh, and if it matters, I'm fourteen...

Yup that sounds like Aura from what i know of it...i get hot and dizzy and feel sick when i get it too, i guess because not being able to see is disorientating!
