Somehow, I doubt LOTR will get Bast Picture. They've given it all the minor ones. The Academy has neither sense of humor nor imagination. They don't like fantasy...

Really? I'm pretty fairly certain it was nominated in 11 categories, and it won 11 oscars, so... Master&Commander won for sound-something, that's probably what you're thinking about. But whateva! It's over, and yes, Titanic, Ben-hur, and now RoTK are the three movies tied in the record for most academy awards ever won.

Billy Crystal was AWESOME. Everything, from the singing in the beginning, to his jokes with Robin Williams, to his little comments (like after everyone in New Zealand was thanked, and then Charlize Theron thanked South Africa, and he said, "While we're at it I'd just like to thank the people of Long Island") kept me laughing the whole night. :rofl: Will Farrell and Jack Black were pretty amusing too ("You're borrrinnngg!"). That's pretty much what kept me watching; most of the awards were fairly predictable.

Johnny Depp did do a swell job in PotC, but it was one of those comical, unforgettable roles, whereas the Academy likes to pick the dramatic heart-wrencing stuff like Sean Penn, which is all good, 'cuz Penn's a good actor too. I'm just glad they nominated Johnny; I thought they'd ignore PotC completely, but it got nominated at least twice, so that was cool.
And he has changed from his wild days, like the incident with River Phoenix. :( I think his wife has shaped him up, LOL. Is everyone excited about his new movie, "The Secret Window"?

don't get me wrong, i LOVEEEEEEE rotk [i saw it about 6 times, haha :hehe:], but i just don't think it deserved allll thoseee awards! same with titanic. both excellent movies [though rotk is better :buckt:] but i mean.. thee academy went a bit crazy with those two. but i'm still happy, i got to look at billy boyd a lot throughout the award show [too bad he was sitting way on the end though! i didn't get to see him as much as i'd hoped :(].


ps, i reallllllly wanted johnny depp to win. he was so good in POTC!!!! i was very sad when he didn't get it :sad:

I agree with salomeyasobko, LOTR had won a bit too many awards though... not that i watch the show anywayz (too american all the stuff lol) but still... but that could be because i don't like those kind of movies at all. My dad watched the first movie of the LOTR movies two days ago and i saw little bits but they really didn't bother me at all...

I only saw some flashes in "rtl boulevard" (like the news, but then about gossip kinda things) about the award shows.

I don't think he was cute in POTC at all either. But he wasn't really supposed to be cute in that movie, so I don't really mind that. But he looks quite lovely indeed in alot of the other movies he's been in.

Except not Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He was bald! I just couldn't get over that fact, lol.
