Makar 02-22-2004, 09:46 PM I love the retro style, own some of it, actually. Like my mother's Beatles records. :D Now where are those pink specs... Hey, we should have a hippie smiley! :\ darckasasin 02-22-2004, 09:48 PM Ya. Let's see. The only things I have are a typewriter (electric), CB Radio (big one with 16-foot antenna!), an (8) ball, and an old stereo console Makar 02-22-2004, 09:52 PM Hmm...we used to have a typewriter. Wonder what ever happened to it... You know, I've always wanted a Juke Box. Those things are so cool! darckasasin 02-22-2004, 09:54 PM I'm interested in those ones that they had on the tables of the old diners that you could just put a coin in and press a button for the song. You know which ones I'm talking about? they were small Makar 02-22-2004, 09:57 PM Oh yeah! And they were all connected to a big one? I think I know what you're talking about... Heh, I like going into those old diners and looking at the various antiques they have on display. Toys and decorations and stuff. darckasasin 02-22-2004, 10:04 PM I think I know what you're talking about. I don't think I've been to ones of those before... lefty 02-22-2004, 10:34 PM We have a jukebox. ;) It looks like this (http://americanhistory.si.edu/notkid/images/jukebox.jpg). Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't; I think it's from the 60s. I love retro stuff, it's unhealthy. The music, the style, anything. Ever since I grew out of my saddle shoes I've been wanting another pair. My mom grew up in the 70s so she has a bunch of disco records and whatnot. She let me have her Saturday Night Fever vinyl, as long as I promised to take care of it. Makar 02-22-2004, 10:36 PM Wow, that's really neat, Lefty! That's exactly the kind I want; I like those better than the boxy ones. lefty 02-22-2004, 10:37 PM Yeah, I love it :D My mom threatens to sell it, but then my dad & I whine. darckasasin 02-22-2004, 10:41 PM I think those are cool. My neighbor has a ton of records and an old Zenith stereo console sebluver 02-22-2004, 11:56 PM I have a typewriter, but it doesn't have any ribbon, and I can't find any in stores either. Does anyone know where I'd be able to buy some? I'd love to be able to use it. I listen to all the music my parents listened (and still listen) to. In such a way I've grown to love all the great bands and singers like Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and alot more. It does have it's downside, though. Like how my dad made us listen to Abba the other night. Neptune 02-22-2004, 11:57 PM Yeah, retro stuff rocks. I'm more into retro design than anything else though. I think I've always been enchanted with the past. darckasasin 02-23-2004, 12:27 AM I use my typewriter for spelling purposes. My teacher gives me an advance list that's different from anybody else's, so she makes me write definitions for my words. I know where you can get a ribbon, sebluver. Try eBay. They have some ribbons, just depends what kind of tw you have. darckasasin 02-23-2004, 12:29 AM I have a typewriter, but it doesn't have any ribbon, and I can't find any in stores either. Does anyone know where I'd be able to buy some? I'd love to be able to use it. I listen to all the music my parents listened (and still listen) to. Like how my dad made us listen to Abba the other night. Boy what I would give to get replacement parts for my mom's record player. After that, I'm definitely getting an AC/DC vinyl. :buckt: Ayelet 02-23-2004, 12:30 AM Yah im a mod, i love anything 60s :D darckasasin 02-23-2004, 12:40 AM I wonder if I can get a record player... *daydreams* Owlie42 02-23-2004, 12:53 AM I've got, or rather, my dad has, a stereo that he bought a couple years ago with a record player. lefty 02-23-2004, 01:06 AM Yeah my mom's stereo has a turntable. She likes teasing me by asking stupid quesitons, like whether or not I know how to use it. :P darckasasin 02-23-2004, 01:07 AM Even tho I my mom already has one, I want 1 that actually works. And with that I want an old stereo and floor speakers. kittycat 02-23-2004, 01:08 AM All we have is old country music lol *shudder*. It's all awesome though [not the country, stuff in general], I mean there's few things to not love about retro stuff :P I used to play with this typewriter we have/had all the time when I was younger. I don't even know where it is now, or if it works. Actually we also have 2 sewing machines that belonged to my grandmothers. That's about as 'retro' as it gets in this house :P h34v3nslilang3l 02-23-2004, 01:19 AM the 80's fashion is back ::shivers:: lol darckasasin 02-23-2004, 01:34 AM Yeah. And I think some of the 70's styles are coming back because I saw a guy at the Wal-mart near where I live with a fro inocntlilgrlNOT 02-23-2004, 02:03 AM :confusion Makar 02-23-2004, 02:35 AM I think it'd be cool to have a different theme in every room of your house portraying the different styles over the years. From the 50's, 60's, 70's, etc. ;) the 80's fashion is back ::shivers:: lol Hey, I like the 80's fashion! :D Neptune 02-23-2004, 02:58 AM Yeah, I have to say I'm starting to accept 80's fashion. Now the entire 90's have serious issues. But yeah, other than that. Kinda off topic, but I saw a guy with hair like most anime characters (dragonball z probably most fitting. even though I don't watch it, I do know what most of 'em look like on there) have it. It was black, and longish and done it such a way where it was sticking up in all sorts of directions. It wasn't bad, it was just odd. Dude128 02-23-2004, 03:04 AM I think it'd be cool to have a different theme in every room of your house portraying the different styles over the years. From the 50's, 60's, 70's, etc. ;) there's a diner near me that has like 5 different rooms, each covered in stuff (movie posters, newspapers, etc.) from different decades :P that place is kind of interesting... there are the different dining rooms, and everything on the menu is named after TV show characters and stuff and about afros- walk around my school and you're basically guaranteed to see at least one person with one. mohawks also aren't that uncommon- there's even a girl in one of my classes that has one lol salomeyasobko 02-23-2004, 03:07 AM Hey, I like the 80's fashion! :D me too! i like the 80s rock bands better :) as for retro style.. i appreciate the sweaters w/ collared shirts! [that's retro, right?] and the beatles. they were excellent!! yep. :D lefty 02-23-2004, 03:09 AM i appreciate the sweaters w/ collared shirts! [that's retro, right?] Is it? I've been doing that style for a while. But now that whole "let's add a collar to a sweater and charge more for it" junk. You need to be wearing 2 shirts. :P And Dan, what diner is this? :P salomeyasobko 02-23-2004, 03:10 AM i think it was.. originally.. i think... :( Makar 02-23-2004, 04:22 AM Man, I love everything from the 80's. The clothing, the movies, the music, the video games, the TV shows...yeah. Too bad I was born at the end of it. :( h34v3nslilang3l 02-23-2004, 04:45 AM oh no theres nothing wrong with the fashion just how they are bringing it back with a preppy twist to it...and then everyone wears the same kind of skirt even when its like 20 degrees outside ::shrug:: Makar 02-23-2004, 04:59 AM Yeah, now that you mention it I have noticed that in some places. The clothes these days are wack, though. With the ridiculously overdone sand blasted jeans and the skintight conceited "princess" shirts. >_> And the guys, they just wear hooded sweatshirts and pants that are so loose I'm sure if you poked them they'd fall off. xD kicker91 02-23-2004, 05:02 AM Um... I think my dad has a '60's Plinko (I think that's what it's called) machine. lol darckasasin 02-23-2004, 12:48 PM What's a Plinko machine¿! darckasasin 02-23-2004, 12:59 PM N E way, I used to have this old portable B&W that my friend from Georgia's parents gave me. I don't have it ne more because the screen kept on rolling. gnilrets2 02-23-2004, 04:34 PM my typewriter is a sweet remake cant find a picture bt its jet black and oh so sweet MaGiCSuN 02-23-2004, 05:19 PM we have grease LP, wich i thought was very cool :P When i first saw that movie i was like "ohhh that movie is awsome!" bla bla bla.. then my mom said to me "we have the LP of it" so i was even more excited haha :P I'm not really into the old music, but then again i never looked through the LP collection of my parents. 70's is hippie right? i love "that 70's show" haha it's hilarious ;) The clothes are awsome too ;) Love, Mirna darckasasin 02-23-2004, 11:16 PM We do have some 8-tracks, but after we bought em a few months ago we found out that the player on my mom's stereo had a burnt motor. I think 1 is Zepplin and another KC & the SunShine Band. Owlie42 02-24-2004, 02:53 AM Yeah. And I think some of the 70's styles are coming back because I saw a guy at the Wal-mart near where I live with a fro 8th grade history teacher's comment on fros: The afro is back. It should have stayed gone. lefty 02-24-2004, 02:56 AM 70's is hippie right? i love "that 70's show" haha it's hilarious ;) The clothes are awsome too ;) The 70s is actually the disco era; hippes were in the 60s ;) </geek> Dude128 02-24-2004, 03:27 AM And Dan, what diner is this? :P wait, in another thread you said we're the same person. so shouldn't you know? :P it's the Daily Planet, on Route 55 in LaGrangeville (in case anyone wants to take a trip to visit it lol)- http://www.dailyplanetdiner.com it's like right across the street from my school, so a lot of students go there a lot- I know my brother used to go there all the time, although I've only been there a few times... |
