Anybody like stuff that seemed cool when your parents were kids (B & W TV's, record players, 8-tracks, etc.)?

I love the retro style, own some of it, actually. Like my mother's Beatles records. :D Now where are those pink specs...

I'm interested in those ones that they had on the tables of the old diners that you could just put a coin in and press a button for the song. You know which ones I'm talking about? they were small

Heh, I like going into those old diners and looking at the various antiques they have on display. Toys and decorations and stuff.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't; I think it's from the 60s.

I love retro stuff, it's unhealthy. The music, the style, anything. Ever since I grew out of my saddle shoes I've been wanting another pair.

My mom grew up in the 70s so she has a bunch of disco records and whatnot. She let me have her Saturday Night Fever vinyl, as long as I promised to take care of it. :lol:

I listen to all the music my parents listened (and still listen) to. In such a way I've grown to love all the great bands and singers like Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and alot more. It does have it's downside, though. Like how my dad made us listen to Abba the other night.

Yeah, retro stuff rocks. I'm more into retro design than anything else though. I think I've always been enchanted with the past.

I use my typewriter for spelling purposes. My teacher gives me an advance list that's different from anybody else's, so she makes me write definitions for my words.

I know where you can get a ribbon, sebluver. Try eBay. They have some ribbons, just depends what kind of tw you have.

I've got, or rather, my dad has, a stereo that he bought a couple years ago with a record player.

Yeah my mom's stereo has a turntable. She likes teasing me by asking stupid quesitons, like whether or not I know how to use it. :P

Even tho I my mom already has one, I want 1 that actually works. And with that I want an old stereo and floor speakers.

All we have is old country music lol *shudder*. It's all awesome though [not the country, stuff in general], I mean there's few things to not love about retro stuff :P I used to play with this typewriter we have/had all the time when I was younger. I don't even know where it is now, or if it works.
Actually we also have 2 sewing machines that belonged to my grandmothers. That's about as 'retro' as it gets in this house :P

Yeah, I have to say I'm starting to accept 80's fashion. Now the entire 90's have serious issues. But yeah, other than that.
Kinda off topic, but I saw a guy with hair like most anime characters (dragonball z probably most fitting. even though I don't watch it, I do know what most of 'em look like on there) have it. It was black, and longish and done it such a way where it was sticking up in all sorts of directions. It wasn't bad, it was just odd.

there's a diner near me that has like 5 different rooms, each covered in stuff (movie posters, newspapers, etc.) from different decades :P that place is kind of interesting... there are the different dining rooms, and everything on the menu is named after TV show characters and stuff

and about afros- walk around my school and you're basically guaranteed to see at least one person with one. mohawks also aren't that uncommon- there's even a girl in one of my classes that has one lol

Is it? I've been doing that style for a while. But now that whole "let's add a collar to a sweater and charge more for it" junk. You need to be wearing 2 shirts. :P

Man, I love everything from the 80's. The clothing, the movies, the music, the video games, the TV shows...yeah. Too bad I was born at the end of it. :(

Yeah, now that you mention it I have noticed that in some places. The clothes these days are wack, though. With the ridiculously overdone sand blasted jeans and the skintight conceited "princess" shirts. >_> And the guys, they just wear hooded sweatshirts and pants that are so loose I'm sure if you poked them they'd fall off. xD

N E way, I used to have this old portable B&W that my friend from Georgia's parents gave me. I don't have it ne more because the screen kept on rolling.

my typewriter is a sweet remake cant find a picture bt its jet black and oh so sweet

we have grease LP, wich i thought was very cool :P When i first saw that movie i was like "ohhh that movie is awsome!" bla bla bla.. then my mom said to me "we have the LP of it" so i was even more excited haha :P
I'm not really into the old music, but then again i never looked through the LP collection of my parents.

We do have some 8-tracks, but after we bought em a few months ago we found out that the player on my mom's stereo had a burnt motor. I think 1 is Zepplin and another KC & the SunShine Band.
