Hi all,
i'm going to write a little tiny tutorial on how to get the photoshop dither/punk effect with photoshop. Since there are tutorials out there for PSP, but not for PS.
1. Open up the image you want the effect on.
2. Copy the image and paste as new image. So you should have two the same images. We are going to work on the second one.
3. go to Image > adjustments > Desaturate. The image will turn into black/white colours. If this doesn't work, make sure your image is one layer. (layers > flatten image) and try again.
4. Then go to Image > mode > indexed color, and make sure the settings are like this:
Palette : local (selective)
colors : 9 (can be between 9 and 15)
Forced : primaries or black and white
Transparency : checked
Matte : none (you can't select this, it should be none BEFORE you choose these settings)
Dither : pattern
5. click ok to make the effect work :) Then hit ctrl + A (select all) and after that hit ctrl + c (copy all)
6. Go to your first (original) image and hit ctrl + v. Your dithered/punked image should be now added as a new layer.
7. Change layer style to "overlay" and you should see your original image beneath it.
you can always mess with the settings a bit. I have my layer set to "linaer dodge" so you can always see what you like best :)
Have fun !
Love,
Mirna
