View Full Version : Valentines
starlet 02-13-2004, 03:18 PM  :rose:
So has anyone any plans for the big day tomorrow? Got anything planned for your other half or have they got anything planned for you? Come on, make me jealous
Marianne 02-13-2004, 03:56 PM Last year I got him something that's more 'over 13' rated. This year I bought him a DVD of 'pirates of the carribean'.
And I told him not to get me anything, I bought a new car stereo the other day, then had to have it installed in the car, because I couldn't do it myself, so I figured that was quite enough money spent on me for Valentine and a my next birthday...
LesPaul59 02-13-2004, 04:04 PM Aw you lucky people with wives/husbands/girlfriends/boyfriends
and judging by my above comment, I bet you can guess what I'm doing! Nothing.
lefty 02-13-2004, 04:33 PM I apparently have plans for dinner, but he won't tell me what they are. I'm probably not even supposed to know it's dinner. :P
starlet 02-13-2004, 04:38 PM I have a boyfriend but we arent doing anything, won't see him til Monday night anyway but even then it'll just be an exchange of cards because hes not into valentines day...id love to do something nice but he won't be doing anything romantic for me and i'd feel silly doing something for him cos he'd probably hate it..so i'm just going to pretend its not valentines so i won't feel dissapointed
Marianne 02-13-2004, 04:45 PM I heard British men spend a LOT of money on Valentine.
Personally, I think it's all commercial etc. etc., so I don't mind not doing anything. Last year I completely forgot, and then Arthur embarassed me by giving me a present when I got up for work. So I had to run into town after work to get him something. To make up for forgetting about Valentine, I got him 3 presents then.
Usually we get one another a pot with hyacinths or something silly like that, we don't even bother with cards.
MaGiCSuN 02-13-2004, 04:47 PM I'm having a happy single evening :P My parents are gone for the weekend so i asked a friend to stay over (she's also single that's why i said: happy single evening) since im all alone (i have no brothers sisters etc) and she brings american pie movies with her (1,2 and the wedding). She is dropping by in the afternoon, and we will eat pizza together :P
I do fancy someone, but i know nothing about him so i'm not going to send some silly stuff or anything :P
Marianne 02-13-2004, 04:51 PM Sounds like a fun way to spend the day, Mirna!
We're going over to my niece's 8th birthday. The first time I saw her was the day after she was born. My sister-in-law was in bed (she had given birth at home), and over the bed was a giant balloon (I mean: giant, about 4 feet across), a huge red, heart shaped balloon with the words: "You are the best" or something like that.
I asked my brother if he had gotten her that because she did so well delivering the baby, but he told me he had put it up for Valentine, and it was there throughout the entire delivery.
Can't believe that baby is going to be 8 already!
xxLaDyBxx 02-13-2004, 05:14 PM i have basketball games....so i won't be doing anything...
but thats okay because i'd have no one to do anything with...

I dont think its that important either....i mean you dont need a speical day to show you love someone etc, you should do that every day anyway...but Gav doesnt...hes never gotten me flowers or choccys or little gifts/treats/suprises 'just because' so valentines does seem like a good time for him to make the effort, if you know what i mean.
I guess ive never really experienced any proper romance, none of my boyfriends have ever been even remotly romantic...so even though im not sure id like 24/7 romance (im not really the soppy type) for once it'd just be nice to know what it feels like to have someone go out of their way just to try make me happy...and not because i tell them to, but because they want to! :D
Sheila 02-13-2004, 05:51 PM Peter and I never do anything. I just consider it a normal day.
Arc Angel 02-13-2004, 05:56 PM I have it all planned out! :D Me and my 'other half' (ie another one of my personalities) will spend our day romantically at a taekwondo tournament. Getting up at about 5 A.M and coming home about 12 P.M or so. We shall then spend a delightful afternoon on the computer coding together, how it/she loves that. Then I'm going to suprise it/her/whatever (what gender do personalities have?) with a romantic, candle-lit dinner of pb&j's, made entirely by myself. Sounds great doesn't it? :P

Ditto that :P
xxLaDyBxx 02-13-2004, 05:58 PM hahah that sounds funn
bellportal 02-13-2004, 06:04 PM I'm not doing anything - I'm not with anyone, anyway!!! ;)
Peter 02-13-2004, 06:41 PM You know in Finland they don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Instead they celebrate Friendship Day.
Just thought I would share. :)
Randomness 02-13-2004, 07:00 PM interesting...well tomorrow is my mom's bday...hehe. apparently i like this one guy and he apparently likes me back....unfortunetly he hasnt asked me out yet and i dont think he will until later...but yes, other than my moms bday, nothing special planned.
salomeyasobko 02-13-2004, 07:01 PM friendship day sounds nice! i am not doing anything to my knowledge. but, my mommy always comes home with some ice cream cones and a tub of "love potion #31" from baskin robbins. its a bit of a tradition
Karen_ 02-13-2004, 08:07 PM All of our single friends usually get together and go bowling, and to the movies and stuff on Valentines Day.. but it has been a rough week for everyone (a friend was killed in a car accident on tuesday, among other things that have happend this week) no one really feels like going this year.
kittycat 02-13-2004, 09:51 PM Like a lot of others I'll lbe doing a whole lot of nothing tomorrow/this weekend :P Even if I did have someone to spend it with I wouldn't want to make it into any kind of special day, Valentine's is so overrated (except for the yummy chocolate that some people give out)
I'm not doing anything. Although I was on neopets earlier today and some guy on the message board asked me if I'd go out with him. I don't even know him, it was really freaky.
At school they sold carnations and the girl who sits next to me got like 20 of 'em, and she was embarrassed about it! I sure wouldn't be, I'd be ecstatic. I'd probably show them off to everyone.

Same. I don't bother with the stupid thing anyway.
kicker91 02-14-2004, 12:20 AM I'm probably going over some of my friends house, including my girl friends (notice the space...) house.
My school is ridiculous. They have carnation and rose sales, which you think would just be a pay-and-buy process. But no; they ask you to write down who you want it delivered to, the name of the person, your name etc. Then they deliver it (well, today). A lot of them didn't even get delivered.
Fundraisers have gone to far.
lefty 02-14-2004, 01:03 AM You know in Finland they don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Instead they celebrate Friendship Day.
I like that idea better!
Just to let the masses know, I still hate the "holiday" even though I apparently have plans.
edit: all right, who left the rep points!
LesPaul59 02-14-2004, 01:41 AM I'm probably going over some of my friends house, including my girl friends (notice the space...) house.

hah! You're lucky. The middle school has hand delivers carnations, and a Kissing Booth (money goes to charity). At high school there are roses (even a dozen!), carnations, chocolate, Valentine-o-grams....Now that is excessive

Owlie42 02-14-2004, 02:08 AM The kissing booth...scary.
At the Jr. High, there were carnation sales, and this thing where you filled out a valentine card for someone, told them who you wanted to give it to, and where they were for a certain period. At the high school? Last year they had a carnation sale. I didn't see much of it, though. We had a history test valentine's day. So my teacher made us go to lunch late
SizzZzlinhair 02-14-2004, 02:29 AM Mike, we can do nothing together. :P
Power to the single people!

Don't feel bad... I'm spending time with my math book! *weak cheer* I never have anyone to spend this day with. The only reason I wasn't depressed last year is because the guy I liked didn't have a Valentine, *thinks about it* That's kinda mean for me to be happy about that. Since we have a four day weekend off from school, people exchanged gifts on Thursday at school. One of my friends and I spent lunch splitting a bag of M&Ms I bought and discussing our dislike for this day, lol... The chocolate eases the pain :D I told her we single people should have our own day... At first I was upset because the guy I liked suddenly started avoiding me, but he talked to me last night over the phone, and I felt a bit better... At least I'm spending some of my day doing the SS thing. That makes the day better :)
adrielle 02-15-2004, 05:57 AM I spent yesterday doing school...it passed like a normal day. :)
sebluver 02-15-2004, 02:16 PM I tried to streak my hair. It ended up really purple and more dyed completely than streaked.
Oh, and I watched Never Been Kissed on USA. Wee.
kicker91 02-15-2004, 02:42 PM I stayed up until 1:30 am yesterday for some reason. Must've been the sugar.
starlet 02-15-2004, 03:36 PM I did nothing as planned, bugged Gav with 'roses are red...' jokes/poems all night but he was mad busy at work (sat + valentines = Mad mad mad) so he didnt even read them til he finished at 11pm, doh!
I got ONE ecard from someone...and i'll get a real one Monday!
I'm glad its over :P
sisqoluv 02-15-2004, 08:58 PM I sat around doing homework and waiting for a call I never got :( I hate it when guys do that.
I stayed up until 1:00 drinking water and talking to people online
Karen_ 02-15-2004, 09:20 PM I ended up going to a movie with a friend... the movie wasn't very good, but i had fun anyway... Then I went to my friends house for a while, then home to my beloved computer. fun fun.
LesPaul59 02-15-2004, 09:37 PM Oh yeah erioc there is also a Data Match were you fill it out and it matches you up with a "perfect match"
Marianne 02-15-2004, 10:08 PM I spent the morning studying. In the afternoon we celebrated my niece's 8th birthday. She loved the evil barbie I got her. She was dressed in pink with pink wings on... how did she ever get to be so girlie I don't know, her parents are normal.
Arthur and me watched 'Pirates of the Carribean', we LOVED that movie!
I especially loved Johnny Depp's acting, he is so talented, it was a great day :)

I love Johnny Depp. :) Especially in Chocolat, heh. I can't wait for Secret Window to come out..
Just a wee bit obsessive. :P
