Really huge problem here. See this website I'm on, theres been a lot of recent hackings into people's accounts, so since they allowed Alt characters in your password, I decided to put Alt characters into my password. What I did was first typed it on a Word Document, copied, pasted the password to change it on the site, and then the Word Document just dissapeared. I have no clue to why, but it just did. I tried re-opening Word Document, but it was gone. I was planning to save the Word document and just copy and paste it from there into the log in each time, but now it seems that I can't. I have E-Mailed about my lost password and I am still awaiting an E-Mail back. Thing I'm worried about is if the Alt characters may have turned into the html code when I typed them in. They never did on another account, but it's just a thought. The other thing, since I don't have the password saved now so that I can copy and paste it, I have no clue what numbers I used for this ONE Alt character. Infact, I have no clue to why it's even in there. (See before I copied and pasted the password, I printed it out as well.) Well I figured out that Alt characters can be made of several different numbers...

What I need to know is if anyone knows of all the number combinations for the Alt character: `

I know Alt+96 and Alt+096 makes that, but it doesn't seem to be either one. The other thing I'm wondering if it may not even be an Alt character and I may be able to do something on my keyboard to activate it aswell? I thought I used this ' in some way when I was typing the password, but maybe not.. Please let me know if anyone knows of the extra number combinations to make that one character. It's the only one in my password that I can't figure out. (The other ones I've known for the longest time.)

Those have alt codes on them. If you need more, I would suggest doing a Google search on alt codes. I hope that one of those help, though. :)

edit: I do believe that to get a ' you press alt+0146.

Thank you a lot, but I don't believe I saw it on either page. I guess it's quite a strange alt code or something. Also it isn't ’ it slants to the right instead of left like ` that. *sighs* I hope I wasn't stupid for doing this, I was just so concerned about having my account hacked. It may have only been 5 months worth of work, but it still was a lot of work to get the things I had got in that account.

Hmm...

What about alt+0180? It's like `, except it faces the other way. ´ Like that. If that's not it, I'll keep looking out for it for you.

Yes... on my Dell QWERTY keyboard it is the key immediately to the left of 1 (or ! when shifted): `

(Note: this is not an "Alt" thing, it's a normal key and you don't press anything special to get it.)

Hm... looks like I can't edit that post anymore.
I found out what the ` is called - a grave accent. More info @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grave_accent

Hmm it's still not working. I believe my best bet may be to wait until I receive an E-Mail back. Thanks for the info everyone.. Ah well alteast I don't have any immediate reason to get back onto my account.

Do you have an english only keyboard? I have a french one so its really easy. If you set the language on your computer to french, then press the button right to the right of the button for ; (jkl;`) and then hit space it would give you that "accent grave" you were looking for.

But I suggest if you have no immediate need of your account you should just wait till you get a reply :)

this probably wont help, but the ` character is on some keyboards that you may not have noticed. mine is in the upper left corner before the 1. my character map does not show the alt version of it.

since the ` is referenced a few times in these postings, perhaps copy the character from here and save it somewhere on a text document on your computer?
