I've been trying to make transparent GIFs for spacing, but the only image program I have is Paint. I save them as GIFs, but they turn up white instead of transparent. Suggestions?

I save them as GIFs, but they turn up white instead of transparent. Suggestions? lovely 01-24-2004, 01:02 AM I've never been able to do GIFs on Paint. Instead I would try to find a different way to do the spacing. Maybe if you give us the link to the page, we can give you some other options. weird girl 01-24-2004, 01:25 AM You can easily save things on Paint as a GIF... it's just not transparent... one option you could do is the Microsoft GIF animator program.... that's what I use to make my GIFs transparent anyway.... you make the image with Paint, then you make the image transparent with the GIF animator. lovely 01-24-2004, 01:51 AM Well, the problem with saving an image as a GIF on Paint is that the image becomes pixel-y, but you're right, you can save images as GIFs. I've never used the MS GIF animator program - where would you get it or does it come with the OS like Paint does? weird girl 01-24-2004, 02:20 AM Go to google and search for "free graphics programs" or better yet "microsoft gif animator"... you should be able to find it without any pain... in case you didn't guess, it's free. :D And another thing: If you don't want the image to be all pixel-y... save a blank page as a gif... then either: a) Paste the pic you want into the blank gif (this can cause probs, can make the pic look.. i dunno how to put it.. "cartoonish?" I guess...) b) If you're simply drawing something, then just draw whatever into the blank gif, and you should have no problem other than lack of colors to choose from... Sinem 01-24-2004, 12:18 PM Make a forum search! There were many people asking this things! You should have a look at http://webbie.suppi.net ! She has a programm called Giffy to make transperant gifes from bmp! Really good if you only have MS Paint. The problem with gif's are that they can only use 256 colours... that's why many colours change what make it look strange! You find a tut how to work with Giffy on that site as well and a programm to make Sinem, please don't ask people from this forum to donate money to others, thanks =) Sinem Allstories 01-24-2004, 11:08 PM Okay, thanks guys. lilmsunpopular 01-25-2004, 12:25 AM Personally, the only free paint program that I like is Gimp. Gimp will make images transparent. However it is hard to use at first. It is also harder to find the Windows version of Gimp. Sinem 01-25-2004, 12:48 AM the windows version thingy is not the problem, but it is really very complicated and strange... PSP is way easier!! Sinem jessi15 01-25-2004, 12:52 AM Make a forum search! There were many people asking this things! You should have a look at http://webbie.suppi.net ! Thank you, this site will definately be a big help too me :D Sinem 01-25-2004, 12:55 AM glad i was help!!! I was really font of that programms to as I only had MS paint (oh well, I had PSP and didn't even know what it was)... And it's so simple too and blinkies are soooo cute!!! Sinem kiara 01-28-2004, 12:55 PM I just saw this post and it kinda relates to my question. I made a gif with paint and now I want it to be transparent, however I have Photoshop 7.0 is there a way to make it transparent instead of white? Sinem 01-28-2004, 01:19 PM The simplest thing would be to paste the pic inside and then erase the surrounding or select it and cut the rest. Then you must save it as a give which takes over the transperancy of the layer in the gif to be transperant as well... Iand read all the other posts as well again... there isn't such a big differents! Sinem kiara 01-28-2004, 01:20 PM Thanks! |
