danielle2756 01-21-2004, 10:01 PM I have some gifs, but when i place on my red background they have a white outline, they show up ok on light backgrounds, but i really want this red, how can i sort the gif's out what program if any do i need?
thanks
kicker91 01-21-2004, 11:22 PM You probably need to make the white part transparent. What program do you use?
Sinem 01-22-2004, 12:35 PM That is probably the problem... lol
So, if you have PSP, you can make it transperant with animation shop which comes with it (that is the most simples way) via replacing the colour white (that just works when there is no more white on the pic) or floodfill it with limegreen (that's what I do) and replace it with the the replacement tool... (animation> replace colour). If you don't have it you can still do it via save as gif and go to the git-optimizeroption... but this doesn't work that good. To make it the best quality, replace the colour in animation shop and paste it in PSP and save as gif there with the option 'keep current layer transperancy or something like that...
If you don't have this programs, then have a look for Giffy on Sinem, put the exact URL in here please, not something so generic, thanks =)and search for it.it is probably the easiest way to do it... just read the tut on the site how to!

danielle2756 01-22-2004, 02:48 PM the only program i have is paintshop pro 7, would this work?
Rosey 01-22-2004, 06:01 PM psp=paint shop pro
Loren 01-22-2004, 11:09 PM the only program i have is paintshop pro 7, would this work?
yes, is their any other white in the picture besides the edge?
danielle2756 01-23-2004, 09:52 AM lol didnt realise PSP was paint shop pro, durrr lol
yes its just the edges that are white
Y3llow 01-23-2004, 10:43 AM Or alternatively if you don't want to go through the hassle of editing the image you could use the chroma filter in CSS to make white transparent, that'll make ALL the pixels of one hex code transparent which might work for you.
Sinem 01-23-2004, 11:18 AM Or you just erase the white at the dge with the eraser toll making it a square and size one. then go and save as gif and set the options to 'keep current layer transperncy'... that is really simple as long as your pic is just an avatar or so...

danielle2756 01-23-2004, 04:42 PM if you look at www.wicknwax.co.uk/spike.htm you will see what i mean about the white edge on the gif's, they look ok on a light background but i want red!!,is the best way of removing this as you have all mentioned in previous threads
Sinem 01-23-2004, 04:47 PM I'm sorry to must tell you that there is no way of getting rid off this then erasing every little bit of the edge with the eraser in size 1... This is really fiddly work now! I do have this problems as well very often, but it is like it is... No way to avoid it!

danielle2756 01-23-2004, 09:51 PM so basically ive paid for a gif collection i cant use on my red background great!!
Loren 01-23-2004, 10:03 PM If you have psp just go in and set the transparentcy to white and that should slove the problem (unless they have already used some other transparency in the images.
Sinem 01-24-2004, 12:13 PM I'm really really sorry for you. You should defenetly speak to that people cause they made something wrong! You shouldn't pay for that mad for. If people want money for work, they should be able to make good things and spending time on them like on psd... and you get these for free most times... It takes me hours to make pics suitable for dark backgrounds! It is defently not your fault!

danielle2756 01-24-2004, 01:33 PM im waiting for the lady that made them to sort them out, i paid for a collection of gif's, about 100!! and they all no use on red background, she supplied this red background in the package and a white one, the only one they look good on is white, so whats the point of including the red one grrrrrrr!!
CryptalClear 01-24-2004, 03:23 PM Hmmm, couldn't you just crop the image to get rid of the border? You wouldn't have to change the border color, just crop them where the border stops...then they should be suitable for any color background.
Sinem 01-24-2004, 08:23 PM This is realy much work and not that easy as well, you need to be very commen to sps then! If she payed about 100 bugs for that, she should get something perfect... I would be very angry!
