Hey All,
I just got started into this LJ thing and have cropped a ton of pictures into the proper size but instead of having just a boring pic, how do you add the blinkies or words or just generally spruce up your icons.... any suggestions?

Well if you have PSP or some other photoediting program, you can do anything you want.
For your icons, you can try adding transparent areas, borders, or making it animated with Animation Shop (or another animation program that you might have).
Just try out the many effects until you get something you like. Or you could also search for tutorials for avatars/icons.

Hve you ever actually made a blinkie? if not, then go to http://webbie.suppi.net and have a look for the blinkie and avatar tuts... you will just need MS Paint for that and 2 programms she provides as download... but I ask you, if you download unfreaze 2.1, plaese donate 1$ or so for the reator... because he does superb job...
