View Full Version : Mid-Terms
JaclynArt 01-16-2004, 09:02 PM AAAAH.. I took my math mid term today which is 30% of my semester grade and there were 30 questions and I left about 10 blank and probably got 5 wrong...Once I got out of there...i saw everyone else was about to start crying...at least I'm not alone...but wow...I'm scared...I havent ever gotten a failing grade on my report card... help...
Makar 01-16-2004, 09:28 PM Heh, my midterms don't start until next week. :P They're worth 20% of our grade...thirty is a little much...
I find the best way to ace the midterms is not to study so much, but actually pay attention in class when the lesson is being taught, and ask for help when you need it. Especially in math classes.
So far I haven't failed any of these exams...although last year I left one third of my Economics final blank (I didn't understand the essays) and either the teacher mixed my grade up with someone else's or must have really liked me because when my report card came back it said I had gotten an A+ on the thing. :confusion I even confronted my guidance councillor about it and he's like, "Well...hmm." I didn't earn that grade, and no one seems to care. Ah well. :P
JaclynArt 01-16-2004, 09:55 PM lol good luck...u've had good luck in the past obviously... I juss hope I have as much luck with the report card grade as u did...and I'm the highest average in my math class and then this mid term... =P
Makar 01-16-2004, 10:04 PM Thanks! If you're the highest average in your class I wouldn't be worrying too much. Those midterms can be so long even if you miss a few questions it won't affect your grade much. The Scantron questions, that is. :P
Rosekeet 01-17-2004, 04:01 AM My math final was UBER easy. The hard stuff wasn't even on the test. I have this GIANT french final next thrusday. Over 100 regular verbs, like 20 irregular verbs, food vocab and house vocab. All straight from memory! And adjectives and possesive pronouns. AGH. And a lit final and a chem final that same day!!!!!!!!
JaclynArt 01-18-2004, 01:31 AM eeks Good Luck!!! Our school doesnt allow people to have more than 2 midterms a day... and we get out at 12...I got chem and art on Tuesday and Spanish on Wednesday...who thought of midterms anyways...
Makar 01-18-2004, 03:03 AM I like midterms. They help me pass classes...
MaGiCSuN 01-18-2004, 01:42 PM good luck everybody :)
that's great that you like them, and that you can pass the years with them... I had, in my graduation year, economics and i found that soo hard! Every time i had 5,44444 (highest is 10, and you must have 5,5 or above to pass) and i was so mad of it because of that i would probably not pass lol. The exam was for me 7,5 so my grade got up to 6,4 or something, that means i passed with a 6 so to me this was important too :)
I hope you all get through it with good or atleast enough grades ;)
Love,
Mirna
My final exams start on the 26th....i don't want to do them i have a science, english, math and theology exam :S, and i aslo have about 3 tests this week to finish off some of the units were still not done :(
JaclynArt 01-18-2004, 04:23 PM AAH good luck everybody ^_^ lol my midterm was only 30 questions though...about 3 or 4 points each...and since I think i missed about 10 that's a 70 right there...still praying for a curve though!
Makar 01-18-2004, 04:41 PM What's your school's grading system like? (7 pt, 10 pt...)
JaclynArt 01-19-2004, 02:53 AM Sorry I don't really get what u mean...*confused*
lilmsunpopular 01-25-2004, 01:17 AM I hate exams, I had them already though, next semester starts in two days for me. I am going to work hard this semester, I don't have many easy classes.
<edit> I'm done in math, I'm so happy.</edit>
JaclynArt 01-25-2004, 03:26 AM I am very proud of u lol I hope they're those classes that seem hard at first but are really easy if u try ^_^ SOO AAAH Midterms are over for me!!!! lol I start Music class...no more art class... *sob* then I gots Career Exploration =P I went to the March for Life on Thursday...it's this big pro-life rally ^_^ It was nice knowing that there were so many that had the same morals as I do. Our school decided that we could have friday off and then it's saying that it's going to snow sunday night so maybe monday will be a snowday yay!
Makar 01-25-2004, 06:35 AM Second semester starts for me tomorrow! WOOHOO! This is where the fun begins. Intro to programming, Drawing I, band, and best of all no gym class! And exams were pretty easy too. :)
Oh yeah, the grading system. you know how in some cases a 90-100 is considered in the A range, an 80-89 is the B range, etc. Well, that's a 10 pt. grading scale. My school actually just switched over to it last year from a 7 pt. grading scale, which was 92-100, 85-91, and so on and so forth. I like the 10 pt. grading system a lot better because now a 59 is considered failing, while before it was 69.
h34v3nslilang3l 01-25-2004, 09:58 PM math is easy in high school
10 pt grading scale owns
JaclynArt 01-31-2004, 02:05 AM It probably seems easy when you look back on it...and even when I'm here it's easy juss our teacher put stuff on our midterm that she didnt even teach us... especially word problems... aaah
Our school is 100-93 is an A 92-85 is a B etc
Owlie42 02-13-2004, 03:34 AM I got a C on my math midterm....:/
But I got an A on my english! and only 6 other people did! (out of 50 students) :D
JaclynArt 02-13-2004, 11:26 PM lol well I'm happy though now...i got my report card back...i got a 74 on my math midterm but I ended up having a 92 as an avg in the end ^_^ I got straight A's in my quarter averages =)
Owlie42 02-14-2004, 01:26 AM Yay!!
JaclynArt 02-14-2004, 03:31 PM lol yes...that's how I felt when I saw it! thanx ^_^
Shadowfax 02-25-2004, 10:18 PM Well, I just had mid-terms in the end of January, and I thought I would do bad, but I actually did really well, in my opinion.
I got:
93% in English
70% Math
89% History
90% Science
YAY! :D
Owlie42 02-26-2004, 03:26 AM If I think I do well on a test, I get a C, if I think I failed it, I get an A or B....
JaclynArt 02-29-2004, 01:26 AM good job Shadowfax ^_^
It's the opposite for me Owlie... when I think I failed it...i usually did lol but if I think I did pretty good I either get an A or a high B... i dont like B's =P
weird girl 02-29-2004, 04:04 AM I took my first semester exam a looooong time ago  I was a little scared of the math exam at first but to my surprise, I got a 100% (probably because the teacher had bonus problems ;) ) The second semester math exam might be another story though, because now we're getting into the harder stuff.... I probably won't be able to finish that exam when the time comes to take it.... I despise exams. No fun at all, although I have half-days during the week of exams, and only 2 periods in the day.
My school used to have a bizarre but stricter grading scale where 94-100 was an A 86-93 B 77-85 C 70-76 D and below 69 was an F. Now my school has the 10 point scale.
i dont like B's =P
Me neither, I'm somewhat of a perfectionist. If I get a B though, I don't break down and cry.
If I think I do well on a test, I get a C, if I think I failed it, I get an A or B....
Same here... so my attitude is usually "Oh I'm gonna do so bad" and blah de dah......and then surprise! I do well, lol.
JaclynArt 02-29-2004, 02:38 PM If u got a 100 on ur first math exam...i dont think u'll do bad on ur 2nd =P What's weird about me is that when I get a C or something...i get really upset but when I get an F... I don't feel as bad...i'm probably too much in shock to get upset ...hmmm...
Owlie42 03-01-2004, 03:46 AM It's different for chem, though. I usually get C's on the tests, so I automatically assume I failed.
