i'm trying to make a layout that takes up basically the whole screen. i'm doing it for a 1024x768 screen, but i don't know what dimensions to use so there won't be any scrolling. i want to do it similar to this (http://mazoku.just-peachy.com/chaos/jungle.html) site. any help would be awesome

When you use frames (http://www.lissaexplains.com/frames.shtml), you can use the asterisk (*) so that a frame will fill up the remainder of the screen. So, if your graphic is 300 pixels wide, making one frame "300px" (for the graphic) and another "*", your layout will fill the screen.

not talking about the frames, but more of the graphic aspect.. if i was to make a layout like that, how big would i make the grapics? something by something? that's what i'm trying to figure out.

It's not a good idea to make a site for 1024x768 only. About 50% of web users use 800x600

Hockey is right, if you're going to make a layout it's best to either have it in both resolutions or 800x600. Why the last one? Because in the bigger resolutions it'll just be a bit smaller, but if you're in 800x600 and it's meant for a larger resolution it'll be WAY hard to visit.

i NEVER said i was doing only a 1024x768 layout. 800x600 resolution viewers can also view it correctly by pressing f11. whenever i do make a 1024x768 layout, i always have a 800x600 option.

but why can't anyone answer my question? how big is pixel wise would it be if it took up the whole screen?

That depends on your browser. I suggest using screen shots of your site and using PSP (I noticed on your site you use it) to check the pixels. You can also change your screen to whatever size, create/resize the layout, upload it, and then change back to whatever it is you use.

You have to remember it still wont be perfect on all comps though (i generally do mine at 1000 width) because everyone has their browser set up differently...like i have my scrollbar width as low as it will go and height wise there can be a coupla hundred difference depending on how big peoples bars are etc...so, youll never find the perfect size for everyone sadly!
